Seems like a lot of people say Herol Graham had a weak chin however the punch that Jackson caught him with i think would have knocked out about 80% of middleweights and his other two tko loses, as far as i can remember he wasn't actually knocked down against Brewere was he? And i haven't seen his other stopage loss so don't know the details of that one, and against Brewer he was arguabley past his best. He clearley wasn't iron chinned, but maybe saying he was glass chinned is overstating it a bit as well. Thoughts...
He could take a decent punch, but he wasn't overly durable. The ''glass chin'' moniker is unfair though..... Jackson belted many a middleweight into next week, and against Brewer he was about 40 years old and had hardly fought in five years. The other KO loss doesn't look great against Grant, but he was a decent domestic level banger it must be said.
Julian Jackson was probably one of the hardest punchers in history. That aside,Herol had all the physical attributes to have accomplished more than he actually did. His drawback was more mental than physical.
Bomber like Roy Jones was a fighter who used his speed and reflexes to be nigh on unhittable but with that he left his hands low and chin up high, like Jones. In boxing a high chin means you're easier to KO. As does being tired, which happens quicker when you get old. Graham's punch resistance dropped off considerably after the Jackson fight. By the time he made that comeback at 168 as a late 30s fighter he probably was more or less glass chinned.Even Pazienza rocked him a few times from memory and he was as far from a puncher at 168 as he was from actually being a good fighter.
I've never heard Graham described as chinny before and can't imagine any one calling him that. Not unless they're judging just by the Jackson ko. Well except for the chin checkers but they're an embarrassment to esb anyway.
