Imagine Hatton at 135.. I heard an interview with him recently & he said he never had a nutritionist until he'd had well over 30 pro fights, & this combined with his partying out of ring lifestyle (which is well documented) it makes u wonder.. what if he'd have had a more professional outfit around him (no Vicky fatton jokes please) from the get go & a less reckless attitude.. I think Hatton in his 20s with the right team could have made 135.. It's pure speculation but do you think he'd have been even more effective at 135? How good would a LW Hatton be?

Not very effective IMO - even supposing he could've made it comfortably. He used every ounce in that 140lbs (and that is at the weigh-in, 24 hours out - in reality more like "151-154lb", by his own estimate, on fight night) to deploy that highly physical, swarming pressure. Compromise that and give him faster opponents in a traditionally more stacked weight class? Doesn't bode well.

Nah 140 was hattons perfect weight. Dude was a monster at that weight, too bad he ran into an ATG fighter.

Hatton is a legend for most British boxing fans including me!! proper front foot always going forward fearless man. As much as I love him eventually having limited movement and counter punch ability caught up with him. Will always be loved apitimy of a British bulldog.

Was definitely better 140 was much quicker at that weight did suited his high pressure style of pressure

I thought he looked pretty slim at 140. Maybe 135 would have drained him too much. That's my feeling.

From memory I recall it was always a struggle to get down to 140lbs, hence the gaunt appearance at weigh ins. I would imagine a nutritionist and a healthier lifestyle would of helped significantly prolong his career I don't think it would of helped him make a lower weight. Hatton for me went downhill around the Collazo fight, never had the same stamina or punch resistance after his attempt to go to 147lbs, he became a clincher and his body punching became less effective too. The biggest mistake with Hatton career was defending that WBU strap instead of fighting for real titles.

He had no problem making 140 and was usually on the weight six weeks before the fight.

He'd lose 20+lbs in the first few weeks of camp.
