Holyfields first victory over Tyson was a great victory and a very fine performance, but imo the second fight was very ugly with holyfield looking to get inside as soon as possible where he would wrestle and maul. It was seemingly effective and threw Tyson off. However a few years later John Ruiz would do the exact same thing to him, that he did to Tyson in the rematch! Get extremely close where the other guy cant work and maul similar to Andre Ward. It seemed to throw Holyfield off! You gotta guve Holyfield credit for not losing his cool and electing to fight John 3 times!
Yeah, the second Holyfield-Tyson fight was ugly because Holyfield was looking to wrestle and maul. It's gone down in history as "The Wrestle and Maul Fight".
Yeah it was ugly and then it got uglier... then again the biting seemed to drastically reduce the wrestling right away
I still wonder why Tyson didn't just throw an elbow like he did in the 80's. He might have been penalized, but probably not disqualified and Holyfield would have had something to think about.
He completely lost it. You can see it in his eyes after the first bite. After growing up as a petty thug and criminal, he spent 3 years in Prison with criminals and clearly reverted and regressed to that thuggish mentality instead of being the Pro he used to be before prison. The first Holyfield loss which was pretty much fair and square(the butting and spoiling was much worse the 2nd time) sent him over the edge.
