Thats the most ridiculous statement on here. How is there an average man on the street and how would you measure his heart? Peace.
Would it be fair to say that Hopkins' heart is his biggest weakness? In pretty much all of his losses (Jones, Calzaghe, Dawson and perhaps to a lesser extent the Taylor fights which he arguably won anyway) he lost because of his unwillingness to take risks. Against Calzaghe, he basically quit mid-way through the fight; he quit openly against Dawson; against Jones, he refused to take a risk even when he clearly needed a knockout to win and he was content to take a loss on points rather than risk being KO'd.
His heart is so weak that he has had one of the greatest careers of any fighter in the sport of boxing, past or present. Oh wait, that makes absolutely no sense. How do you question someone's heart when they've done all Hopkins has? Not to mention coming out of prison as a young man and having the heart - yes, heart - to turn his life around, stop drinking alcohol and doing drugs, and carve out a life for his wife and child. Anyone questioning his heart as a man is laughable.
If Hopkins' heart was his biggest weakness, we never would have heard his name and he would have faded into 'bolivion as a 23 year old.
To say that a 46 year old man who has been down but never out in over 50+ fights has no heart is just dumb
:dealBrilliant post mate.I understand why some people may dislike Hopkins but I'd bet if some of them did a few years in the garage they'd have a different view of him entirely.I admit my bias may be skewed because of empathy,but when you've a clearer idea of what that man has done and just how hard it is to turn your life around when you're branded with a record then I think you'd think twice before accusing the guy of having no heart. All boxers have big hearts.Only Judah makes me question his but I'd never accuse him of cowardice.
If you have a legendary career of course you have/had heart. Hopkins was a tough fighter in his day(Mercado 1, Echols 2, fighting a prime RJJ that NO ONE on here would do) but he is prone to ***** out nowadays if the fight isn't going his way(RJJ 2, Dawson). He probably showed the biggest heart in his career against Pascal in the first fight when he got knocked down twice but recovered to rally back and beat him. Can't forgive him for how he acted all tough against Dawson but the chance to show adversity he found a way out. Not to say he hasn't, coming out of prison and becoming a champion takes a lot of heart and dedication to do. Prime his heart is an 8.5-9.3 but he really needs to redeem not only himself but the people who paid money for that BS he pulled against Dawson. I can see why he ducked him for years.
