Looking through his record, I realize that I'm quite ignorant about so many of his early foes. I certainly don't hold the later years against this guy... He beat everyone, and paid his dues, during a long prime, or so it seems. Any thoughts? Just how good was he? The more I read, the more I like him. Thanks.

He lost and drew vs the best more often than not and never beat a Hall of Fame opponent...I think.

The only film on him is when he's past his prime, but he looks pretty bad in that film.

    Yes just being flippant.

Dixon has legendary status but he is extremely hard to evaluate owing to the period in which he operated .
What are we to make of this?
