Robert, after seeing the great and very good bantams of the late sixties through Zarate its been hard to get interested in any of the top rankers of the last ten years. I can't remember any that belonged close to his class.

I haven't seen a lot of the much earlier champs, but the only guy I would place above Zarate at 118 is Jofre. Olivares was great there too, but a bit more erratic.

I'm not sure I could even name five of the more recent vintage. I don't pay much attention to modern boxing.

I can't see any of the following going the distance with him:

    Rafael Marquez KO 12
    Paulie Ayala KO 10
    Johnny Tapia KO 9
    Tim Austin KO 7
    Israel Vasquez KO 4
    Nana Konadu KO 5

Jeff retired well over ten years ago.

Sahaprom would give him the best fight of the recent champions.Probably going out similar to Davila.

From what I've seen of Hozemi Hosegawa, I think he could survive into the later rounds, and make a pretty decent fight of it, before succumbing to Zarate's assault (a la Paul Ferrari)
