"he's the wefferee" Dont you know at the end of round 7 or round 10 he should of gone to the corner and say an ultimatum I.E. "show me somthing or you are out of here" it was slow carnage
What about the round where Lewis looked like he had stopped the fight but was only stepping in because the round had come to an end? Briggs was taking a lot of punishment right there, that is precisely where that fight should of been stopped imo.
I totally agree. He got a fighter put into a critical condition in intensive care but apart from that hes a fantastic ref.
Im amazed at some people. They complain and winge when a fight is stopped too quickly and complain when they let it go on. I can gaurantee this same TS would have made a bull**** stoppage thread if Lewis had stopped the fight.
if the corner who knowshim far better than the ref and where talking to him dont pull him out, and he is still being active in the round i.e throwing punches back why should the ref pull him out
Breaks my heart. I've been posting on forums since 2001. I'm a legend over on the boxrec forums actually.
Well **** me then we are honoured. You've made your point. I've made mine, others have made theirs. If you search some of my posts/threads you will find many of me complaining the stoppage was too late. This is not one of them, I thought the ref did a decent job. The way the fight went yesterday it is only really the corner who can be blamed. I feel privaliged to be able to talk to a legend of boxrec. Thankyou!!!:good
I'm of the school that believes a referee is simply there to enforce the rules, not decide arbitrarily whether a fighter is in a position to continue. I did notice Briggs didn't complain too much when he thought he'd been stopped. His corner should have pulled him out that round. Having said that I do seriously hope he's going to be OK.
The corner knows the fighter, better than the ref. How many times to Refs get slated for stopping the fight to early..? Shannon Briggs is a big big puncher, he could end the fight or turn it around with one punch.
Briggs was always throwing something back and his corner should have pulled him out. The only criticism of the ref could be that he never consulted the ringside doctor. Remember Briggs was constantly telling the ref he was "ok" as soon as Vitali landed on him.
If anyone is to blame it is the WBC for sanctioing this pointless fight, what exactly had Briggs done to desvere the fight?
