It's HOF weekend!!!!!!! Who's gonna be coming to Canastota???? I have an autographed ring robe from Arturo Gatti, an autographed pic of Sugar Ray Robinson vs. Gene Fulmer signed by both legendary fighters for sale.
Every year I think about it, and every year I decide it's just too long of a drive. If it was like 3 hours out of the city, I'd head up there for a day, but Canastota is just too far away - need to get a hotel and all that stuff just to get there.
I will be there, doing the golf and dinner. I'm stationed at Ft. Drum 1 hour and 15 minutes away. I drive down every morning and go home at night, that is when I'm not deployed. Have made it our family thing every year for the last 10 years but this is my last one because I'll be stsioned in GA in july.
All the greats are there every year and they all are more than happy to do pics and sign autographs. Bramble, Foreman, Norton, Basilio, Hagler, Palomino, Ward, etc. To us, they are real life superheros and they know how much we appreciate them for the some of the best memories ever. Boxers outdo any other sports stars by what they give in and eventually out of the ring. BTW, I live in Syracuse and drive up and back to Drum every day for work. See you in Canastota.
