Ike had the physical tools and had amazing chin and stamina for a heavyweight. He wasn't as skillfully refined as the big men of the game like Lewis or the Klitschko bros, but he didn't need to be skillfully great to beat them. They've all 3 fallen to lesser men than "The President". Lol such a cool nickname, but hell yea he could fight he wasn't a bum like most of today's heavyweights.

He had the ability to be a great fighter but he was mentally ill. Even if he hadn't gone to prison he would have been a ticking time bomb. I heard that he once pulled out a knife during contract negotiations and stabbed it into the table because he wasn't happy with the terms. He was more unstable than Tyson.

I've read that Ike actually believed he was a president. Apparently people would ask him what country and he'd tell them he was the President of the World. Bat**** crazy

It's the heavyweight division. Becoming the champion of the world is all you need to be to write your name in history. He clearly was good enough to become a champion but I doubt he would have been a dominate long reigning "ATG".
