John Ruiz had quit a few decent fights. You shouldn't believe everything you hear.

Unfortunately for Ruiz, his worst performances (whence all the hyperbole is drawn) happened to come in his handful of highest-profile fights.

Nah easy work for Toney. I was a little suprised Ruiz didnt have any success on the inside and Toney kept him from falling in and holding with quick counters.

Like what? My favorite is the Tua fight. It was the most exciting.

That last one against Adnan Serin wasn't terrible, from what I saw. It was better than the main event anyway (Haye vs. Valuev), for what that's worth.

Watch his fight against Chagaev for example. The first two Holy fights weren't bad either.

I was kidding a little. I actually thought the Holy fights were entertaining too. Everyone was in shock when Holyfield went crashing down fronm that righthand. Actually Ruiz pre Tua was a lot more of an aggressive brawler, but he learned his lesson the hard way against Tua.

Man they could have put Cory Spinks vs Junior Witter on USA Tuesday night fights and would have turned out to be a great fight. Something about that series that just kept churning out great fights, man I miss it. :|

That about sums it up. Ruiz at his worst was no harder to watch then Ali eventually was.

    No.

The only thing "decent" about it was the decision, which finally relieved Ruiz of his title; but then he somehow had it given back to him anyway. It was impossible to get rid of that guy; even when he lost, he still retained his title. :-(
