That has nothing to do with it...I still think Wlads style is robotic(hes 6'6, he cant be too fluid, but i think he is pretty fluid for his size), from his fighting to his interviews (hehe)...Its just that Wlad will pick apart a robotic opponenet IMO.

I agree, right now Wlad beats Povetkin. In the future, I'm not so sure, I'm not trying to overrate him. I dont think he's ready, but if he keeps improving and beating top flight comp he can pose a threat.

He has good footwork and has pretty good offensive arsenal himself. I think he's also got enough power to hurt Wladimir. He can pressure well etc.

Again, let me reiterate, I'm not starting a hype train, this thread was just to point out some positive things I've seen in this young fighter.

I agree, but the things is, IF he keeps improving, the same question for every young fighter, or better yet, every fighter.

I have no hate for the man, was just saying what i think his biggest flaws are and his chances against the top dog in the division.

I get more of a Holyfield vibe right now, but I think in time he'll become more akin to Joe Louis. Louis created a very good model to beat big heavyweights, and that's what Povetkin needs to focus on.

Peter's style presenting problems to Povetkin?
    Hm!
    I disagree with you,amsterdam!
Guys like Peter,Brooks,Estrada,Vidoz,Koeber, and so on were not even worth a fig to be mentioned with Povetkin at the same sentence back then at the amateurs which were totally dominated by the Russian superstar.
Whenever he participated in an international tournament he was the one who was called victor after the end of that tournament.
Guys like Peter or Brooks lived in Povetkin's huge shadow knowing that they couldnt win a tournament in which Povetkin took part.
Of course almost every heavy weight has a puncher's chance, but apart from that I cant really imagine that a slow and very predictable Sam Peter would pose any problems to Povetkin.
Quite the opposite Povetkin would probably teach him and these guys a lesson in boxing as he did at the amateurs.

In a pro fight, someone like Peter has MUCH better chance to beat Povetkin as in an amateur fight.

Ah yes, as long as we're talking about the "future" of the HW division, Povetkin v Solis is something to really look forward to. Povetkin has no chance against Wlad right now. He simply does not have the range.

Yes, which is why I'm such a supporter. His fundamentals are almost flawless with his footwork and every punch.

Other than their styles of punching and ways of moving around, I think the biggest similarity between Louis and Povetkin is how relaxed they look in the ring all the time. The most impressive thing about Povetkin to me is how calm he always looks and how focused he is. It's not rare to see prospects have a ton of confidence, but it's rare to see them look so comfortable when taking big steps up. Being relaxed is one of the most important things about being a great fighter at the top level and many people don't look at this aspect of boxing, especially in prospects.

He's the anti-Audley Harrison, who had a fit of panic every time his opponent threw a jab.

Povetkin will find that being relaxed will make him a much more durable boxer. Ask James Toney, whose stamina and chin I think depend a lot on being so relaxed.

    I dont think so.
Sam Peter couldnt hold a candle to Povetkin at the amateurs.Neither will he be able to beat him at the pros.
A ko is a ko-whether you knock somebody out at the pros or the amateurs the result is the same.
Just ridiculous to claim that at the pros everything is different.
Head gear or not-the amateurs can punch, too.

Povetkin will likely bust up Byrd , then stop him in the mid to late rounds.
