Saad, Chacon and SRL come to mind quickly. The difference between them is that SRL had extra skill and class and could find ways other than just outlasting the opponent. Chacon and Saad simply ground you down thru incredible will, heart and desire.
Larry Holmes too, jeez. Nobody wanted it more than Holmes, especially when pressed hard. He narrowly beat Witherspoon with pure heart and desire. With the skills fading he beat numerous fighters this way.

You've got me there, HJ. I suppose my recollection of him first coming to NY in '69, and his swath through the lightweights is the most vivid to me. Can't defend what Roberto did with Leonard the second time, but having spent alotta time around him in training, my personal take is: He was just so ****in' arrogant, he refused to be embarrassed and said **** it, and never considered the consequences.
