Bit random but just rewatched his fight with donaire absolutely class fight. The guy is Elite level up there with fury,usyk and canelo for me , The fight had everything drama swings back forth and top level ability. Seems been a bit quite on the news any idea on his next fight or if plans move up weight?
That was a great fight, even if donaire was past his best. Great to watch. Has a fight in December apparently.
Think it showed just how good donaire actually was at one point and at that stage to really give inoue a run for his money and hurt him at stages was amazing ,also a class act outside ring . Tris Dixon has a good podcast with him if you haven't heard it mate
He’s probably my favourite boxer out there just now. To have such power at the average weight of a ten year old is incredible. Pulverised a very capable Jamie McDonnell inside 2 minutes a few years ago and it was a proper what the hell have I just seen sort of moment!
He wasn’t capable, he was very concerningly dead at the weight, he was wobbling as he walked to ring. I doubt he earned more than 200k for that fight either which is even more grim.
Inoue uses winning gloves also, the most comfortable padded gloves you can have as a pro. Imagine if he used a punchers glove! Makes his power even more incredible to be honest.
One of the most relaxed boxers I’ve seen when he gets in the ring, hardly breaks a sweat. Still remember when he blitzed McDonnell and then went KOd Payano with a sweet one-two, the first punches he landed with.
I meant capable in terms of ability but you’re right that the weight was a massive issue for him. He apparently rehydrated something silly like a stone from weigh in to the night of the fight. I saw him walking through the Debenhams in doncaster frenchgate centre about 4 years ago and he’s absolutely tiny. Not in terms of height but he has the natural physique of a woman in her late teens. He’d look fantastic in a tight fitting dress and some heels.
