heard a whisper dat robbie long might be fightin fitzer for dat title of his soon! just a whisper though!!! would be great 2 c the finish off a trilogy for a belt!!!!!!!!!!
Would be great, Still think its too early for them though..... Id like to see Robbie against Spike, Ciaran Healy or even Henry Coyle first before another fight with Fitzy
Was at the stadium last night some very poor boxing for a senior championships. But heard some good rumours i heard Andy Lee is looking at coming back to Ireland and Peters is favourite to guide him like he did Bernard. Also was told that there is def a show going ahead mid april and Eddie Hyland will headline. Also Sweeny will fight Waldron for the irish light heavy belt and Timms and Power would fight in an eliminator. Guy this was just what i was told anyone to confirm/deny the above.
Interview with John Breen will be going up on eastside now. Breen is super confident that Sinky is going to go on a KO spree - he says that Sinky is hitting harder now than when he fought Santos for the title. I am not surprised - I think Sinky is in the form of his life myself and his last two victories were explosive. In fact, the most recent one was the best performance on the card. I am going to drop a ton on Sinky later on tonight - 7/2 odds is money from heaven.
Get in there Sinky! I am not going to sleep a wink this week - can't wait for Prizefighter. http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=22871&more=1
Fitzy did say if spike wont fight him then he will want robbie long again for the middleweight title (if spike drops it)
Brilliant you make me feel better about working yesterday and today! Will be there next week as I have friday and saturday off Yeah I figured that peters would be in the mix to sign Andy
Yeah I'm raring to go for prizefighter. I think Sinky will break a few head. I know Pryce is a tough one (no chance it was fixed eh?!) but I do think the 3 round system will suit him. He shouldn't gas and people will take chances. I think Sinkys punch power and accuracy will be key!
Elite National Championships round-up Saturday, 20 February 2010 18:31 Ryan Lindberg, Tyrone McCullough and Sean Kilroy recorded the first three quarter final wins of this afternoon's Championship duels at the IABA Elite National Championships today. McCullough earned a hard-fought decision over Danny Coughlan, while Lindberg beat Glen Murray by a 7-point margin. Kilroy found himself four points down and staring at the exit sign against Kevin Fennessy. However, the Holy Family featherweight staged a remarkable come-back to win 14-6. Meanwhile, defending lightweight champ Eric Donovan looked very sharp in his victory over Mark McCullough. A 23-1 verdict spoke for itself as Donovan dominated from the opening bell. The St Michael's Athy man will meet Ciaran Bates in next weekend's semi finals after the St Mary's ace saw off the challenge of Gavin Keating. Donovan's St Michael's Athy team-mate David Oliver Joyce, the current EU featherweight champion, and Ross Hickey, a bronze medalist at the 2008 European Championships, advanced from the other two lightweight quarter finals. Joyce used his vast experience to consistently circumvent the long reach of Tyrone McKenna and Hickey beat Paddy McGerrity. Meanwhile, defending light-welter champ Philip Sutcliffe and Niall Murray produced the bout of the Championships so far. The lead changed hands two times in the opening two minutes as both boxers - who both received public warnings in the second - went about their business with what could be best described as controlled venom. Sutcliffe, who like Murray, is never backward about coming forward, eventually had his hand raised in victory as both boxers earned a deserved standing ovation at the end of three cracking rounds. Meantime, AIBA 2008 World Youth champ Ray Moylette got his campaign off the a flying start with a 10-0 verdict over Paul Barbour, while reigning U/21 and Intermediate champion Paddy Gallagher bowed out following a 4-1 reversal to Stephen Donnelly in a repeat of the recent Ulster Senior final which Donnelly won 6-3. Sonny Upton completed the 64Kg semi final pairings with four points to spare over Jamie Dowling. The welterweight quarter finals saw defending champion Willie McLaughlin, Adam Nolan, John Joe Joyce and Roy Sheahan all booked their tickets into the last four. McLaughlin, a quarter finalist at the 2009 AIBA World Championships in Milan, beat Fergal Redmond and Nolan recorded and impressive 8-0 win over Jonathan Dowling. Beijing Olympian Joyce out-gunned Shane Murtagh and 2007 EU champion Sheahan edged out Daniel Quinn on a count-back. Sheehan was 3-0 ahead at one stage, but Quinn brought closer after producing an excellent final round. The lead changed hands twice before Denis Hogan had his hand raised in triumph at the expense of Darren Cruise in the final bout of the afternoon's session. The Championships resume at 7.30pm this evening with 14 quarter finals slated for decision. Tonight's pairings will feature defending champions Ken Egan, Darren O'Neill and Con Sheehan. Reigning European Youth champion Jason Quigley will make his senior debut versus Luke Keller. The 2010 Elite Senior and Novice Championships will be held over three weekends. Dates: February 19/20/21, February 26/27 and March 5/6. This content is protected
Holmes & Blaney progress to final Saturday, 20 February 2010 21:31 Glen Holmes and Chris Blaney will compete in Sunday's Brandenburg Cup finals in Frankfurt/Oder at bantamweight and welterweight following semi-final victories on Saturday. However, world junior champion Joe Ward bowed out of the 18-nation tournament after being edged out 3-2 by home favourite Islam Sulimanov of Germany in the middleweight semi-final. Ryston flyweight Stephen Tracey is also out after being eliminated on a count-back to Nikolai Chaskin of Estonia. Holmes booked his ticket into the bantamweight final with a 7-4 win over Gokan Gural of Turkey and Blaney advanced after Zhan Alimkhaunty of Kazakhstan was disqualified for low blows. Blaney, who was 6-0 down at one stage, had pulled back to within two points (6-8) when Alimkhanuly received boxing's equivalent of a red card. Holmes will face Rusian Madiyev of Kazakhstan in tomorrow's bantamweight final, while Blaney meets Denis Radovan of Germany. This content is protected
