Yes friend, Bernard announced his retirement at 6pm on Friday. It sadly means the end of big time boxing in Dublin for a while but there's a lot of big shows in Belfast planned this year, which is something to be cheerful about.

    I'm a big fan of Jerry Quarry:hi:

Trust me, I'm a big fan of this thread.

Yes, Jerry Quarry was a warrior's warrior. R.I.P.

I believe Ireland has a ready-made replacement for Dunne in the shape of Belfast's Martin Lindsay.

Hopefully Brian Peters can sign him up and let the good times roll.

Shame that Sinky and Pryce got drawn out in the first stage as that would have made a great final. Pryce isn't the fighter he once was though so Neil can do the business.

Looking down the list it's actually a fairly strong line-up in this one. Ryan Rhodes seemed to fancy Prince Arron (remember him fighting Duddy a few years ago?)

I recall Brett Flournoy smashing through tough Liverpudlian Peter Allen a while back and he looked handy, but has not been too active on the scene since. However, he could be a dark horse and Martin Concepcion can punch a bit too.

Steve O'Meara is unbeaten and hungry but lacks a bit of refinement.

Can't see Butler doing much and Hillyard is talented but lazy.

How close is Peters to signing Lindsay, as there is a lot of speculation that Maloney will get there first.
