On a slightly related note to our above conundrum, I've asked my sports editor to give me a weekly page (similar to Gerry Callan in the Star, I suppose) to write on Irish and international boxing. He's getting more and more into boxing, and has agreed to give me a shot at it. A trial run, for want of a better word.

Here's my vision - articles/interviews/quotes of the week/etc, the more Irish-related the better.

Now, I know some of you aspiring writers are keen on publication. I wouldn't be able to pay, but if fellas like Slappy and Brendan wanted to get into a daily paper which sells 30,000 copies in Cork and beyond, then its a good start. Your byline would go on it and I could forward you the PDF files of the page for the oul' CV.

Anyone interested?

 

I forgot to add, if it becomes a success, perhaps we could crank it up to twice a week, etc. I'm getting over-excited, but I would love for the Evening Echo to be as recognised for boxing as the Irish News. Real boxing stories by real boxing writers.

That is interesting about Pajo being eligible. I wonder if he got a British passport - were would he begin in the British rankings and if he waited until he was made a mandatory challenger - approximately how many fights would it take for he is in that position:huh

That is brilliant that you have spoke up for more boxing coverage in the Evening Echo - if only more sports editors would write about boxing we would have a few more bigger names in the sport.

I am happy to do whatever I can to help Podge, although I will still prioritise eastside for the bulk of my Irish stuff. But, sharing quotes, photos, doing additional articles/interviews etc - I can help with this and I am sure there is easy synergy to do so - no problem. I am sure there are a few others on here who would do the same.

 

Another good fight, and i heard talk of Paulie been matched with a guy Scott Quigg too but like i said its all only talk as far as im aware...

There was other talk of Eddie vs ***an II and Eddie vs O'Hara II, But i dont see what the point is going back over old ground, Just a big risk, Little Reward for Eddie,

Well they only crowned a new SFW european champion Leva Kirakosyan and god he is some banger, seen him take Scott Lawton apart in 3 rounds, Well should have been stopped in 2....He is a dangerous fella to be in with,

Id like to see Eddie fight, Nicky Cook, Ricky Burns, Gary Sykes, Andy Morris, or and British fighter and beating any of those would surely shift him up the rankings....
