I didnt know that Ardy - I was at the Hatton fight in the MEN about a couple of rows back from ringside - some night massive Magee fanbase in the upper tier with a cracking tricolor with a Painting of MAgee on it - the main Manchester fighters (Gomez and Farnell) had been beaten that night and the crowd had turned nasty - plenty of anti Irish shite - nearly got into a few fights in the crowd mtself. When Hatton went down I thought there was going to be a riot but Eamonn ran out of steam and imo was in survival mode for the last four rounds.

I'm still a massive Magee fan and wrote this on him http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eamonn_Magee but my favourite Magee fight was the Oktay Urkal fight - a one point he did something that had me in stitches - Urkal was a dirty ****er and Magee was gettin pissed off and got angry and was pointing to his fist as if to say "do you want this one?" then - bang! and does the same with the same fist three times - hilarious! anyone see that?

Gomez McDonagh II - VIP promotions have confirmed that Gomez v McDonagh will fight for the Irish title on 23 May 2008 at Wigan, Lancashire.

I'll be there but is anyone interested in this fight after what happened last time!?

Yeah slap..., it's about time Setanta which is an Irish organisation, put some money into Irish boxing, instead of lining the already full pockets of Frank Warren.

Gents, were looking to run a supporters club evening in May. Probably in Belfast or Dublin (both if there is enough interest). Going to try and get a couple of pros to go along for a bit of Q and A. Can anyone think of good venues (hopefully 50-100 people)? Also do any of you think Sutherland and Egan can make it in Athens next week...fingers crossed

Sutherland was edged out by 1 point at Pescara trials after a ding dong battle with the English boxer - he should be a big favourite to progress. It is time Egan showed his full potential - surely if he can achieve this he too will be on his way to Beijing.

Hello Cormac, I think the Dockers club in Belfast would be a great venue for the supporters club. The prelims of the Ulster seniors are contested there, plus many other amateur boxing events. They also have there own boxing club out the back. And they do a nice pint of Harp.:beer

I had thought about Dockers (and the Ringside Club in Dublin) but was worried having it at an actual club could put off people from elsewhere! What do you think?

Martin Lindsey fights tonight in Canada
I've seen him fight a few times before (undercard to Steve Molitor) .. always a pleasure to watch him. Quick hands , fast reflexes and even KO power to the body.
