Ardy - that is great news that Perez is still on the Alio card - I am really looking forward to that card. Some of you lads from Dublin/Cork etc should come up for it - crackin show

Carlos - brilliant to hear you will be topping cards at the Ulster Hall from November onwards!

naff all was said, his opponent to be named in the next few days, apparently no-one decent wants to fight him or go to limerick, so there finding it hard to get a top draw guy to agree... re-stated that he'd like to fight Barker and that he has nothing "personal"against him...

    Cheers.

Bitterly disappointed he can't get a good fighter. **** management when you consider how long they have had to sort something out. Lee needs a new direction because he is going nowhere under his current promotion team. Maybe Bob Arum might get him a big fight after Duddy cashes out. He needs to step it up, it's the only way he will improve. I find it odd that no good fighters want to fight him, I thought the only silver lining of the Vera loss is that people would see him as a soft touch and the big names would be glad to fight him. I wonder if they contacted another fighter who says he is in the same situation, Craig "nobody will fight me" McEwan. So much bull**** in the sport. Why the **** can't these people just get it on. All moaning about not getting big fights but won't fight each other.

Well it would be a scrappy terribly cagey fight for a start.

McEwan does some things very well but there's other things he has some major flaws on. He's a lovely mover in there and has nice(and quick) footwork, he's very accurate, has good variety in his shots, decent sense of timing and distance and good boxing brain on him. His chin looks to be pretty solid aswell.

negatives are he's very upright, and can tend to lean back from oncoming punches with his hands down. He seems pretty damn featherfisted aswell.
He's very green tbh, and could do with quite a bit of work. If not for the fact he's already he's already 28 I would say he could go quite far. But unless he's got Hopkins like resistance to father time I think he'll have declined too much physically by the time he has everything technically.

As for a fight with Lee, I'd expect a close fight tbh. A scrappy affair, with both men trying to box but their long rangey southpaw styles making things difficult. If it turned into a war(unlikely really) I'd favour Lee strongly, as McEwan isn't good enough on the inside to trouble Lee that way and trying to wage war with him on the outside when he's the slightly bigger man and much bigger puncher wouldn't bode well.
But in a boxing match which this would be likely to be it could go either way, I'd plug for the man with home advantage if either had it and on neutral ground I'd expect a SD but not sure who'd get it.

At this late stage I wouldn't be surprised if Sergey Khomitski was the man to face Lee after his win over Moore.
Wouldn't cost much to get him, and it would allow Peters(and RTÉ) to give it the 'just beaten former European champion, he's a dangerous opponent' angle.

If we're talking about a non European opponent, the combacking Mexican Jose Luis Zertuche would be good. I don't think it would cost the World to get him and it's the type of fight his camp may take due to the big(ish) rewards.

What do you guys tthink of Lukas Konecny hes a good fighter on paper but doesnt hav huge power and has fought mostly at light middle and is 5'8 so andy would hav a great advantage a great opponent to look good against and great to get european status off

As much as I also recommend the Holiday Inn show, the McCloskey bill, also featuring our own "wee" Carlos, along with Haughian, Conlon, Sinclair and maybe "big" Rogie might be a better idea if one can only afford one trip to Belfast.
