From RTE.ie - what yis make of it, lads? Civil war in yet another of our national sports where the sport itself is the ultimate victim? Doubt surrounds boxing appointment Confusion surrounds the appointment of a new High Performance Director at the Irish Amateur Boxing Association. Irish coach Billy Walsh has been the de facto director since Gary Keegan left the role in the aftermath of a successful Olympics in Beijing almost two years ago. A series of impressive performances on the international stage meant that many in boxing circles presumed Walsh was a certainty to land the post, but it has emerged that the sport's governing body was planning to parachute Dominic O'Rourke into the role. O'Rourke is the current president of the IABA. The Irish Sports Council has already raised concern over the recruitment process in the organisation and had indicated that they would not be funding the salary of CEO Don Stewart. Officials at the IABA were not available for comment, but an announcement is expected to be made in the coming days.
Thanks mate I'm looking forward to being interviewed about the situation but no one has contacted me thus far....:deal for anyone who wants another read of it... http://www.facebook.com/irishpaddy?v=feed&story_fbid=303743758559
Its a ****ing disgrace, Walsh should have this job. Sometimes the amateur game can be as corrupt as the professional.:-(
A very winable fight for sweetpea!!! I was on the sykes vs Morris bill and sykes was good but nothin special. If sweetpea boxes like he did against burns who is much better than sykes then I reckon he will get the nod. Hope he does it it could put his carter back on track!!!
Kelly Pavlik has risen from the dead and now waits for Matt Macklin http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/blog/2010/apr/16/kelly-pavlik-matt-macklin don't think This content is protected is much of a Duddy fan....
Took a dander to Breens gym today just to have a we nosey McCloskey and Conlan wer training both looked in good shape already it was good watching them both on the pads with breen. McCloskey looks as slippery on the pads as he does in a fight and Conlan looks like he can bang abit for a flyweight hes pretty tall for a flyweight too. Paul did say he was expected to be fighting on the 11th of june. And they think Conlan will be fighting Wilton for the flyweight title. Am not sure if he qualify's for it to be honest. :bbb
are we sure this guy is a boxing writer??Seems very amateurish, even his contruction of sentences is shite...
