    The three Hyland brothers won tonight.Patrick KOed Griffin in 3rds.Eddie defeated O'Hara on pts over 10rds.Both these brothers picking up Irish titles, the featherweight and superfeatherweight respectively.All the rest of the Irish boxers on the undercard picked up wins also.

    thats got to be retirement for paul griffin now i'd say...i used to think before the dean pithie fight that he was destined for big time...

    Yeah men, it was a great night of boxing. It was sad to see Griffin go out like that.I hope the Hylands put on another show soon.

    Yes Doug, I have to agree with you there.Paul showed great promise as a young fighter. I remember him winning the European featherweight title in the amateurs in 1991. A lot of people forget this, but he was our top amateur going into the 1992 Olympics[ although he disgraced himself there, by throwing a tantrum after being stopped in his first contest , and subsequently was suspended for a year].In my opinion, ultimately Griffins main weakness in his career was his chin, Paul had great silky skills and footwork, but unfortinuately that wasn,t enough when you can't take a good shot.I hope he retires now and enjoys the rest of his life in Australia. I for one have enjoyed following his career, and although he came up "short" in his expectations, at least he tried.:good

    not a bad list,john isnt IBA middleweight champ anymore though.
    id possibly have dunne above lee based on last performances,i feel that lee's loss is worse than dunne's was and although we haven't seen andy comeback yet dunne camback in outstanding fashion and fought a very good fight against machado.
    id have james moore above neil sinclair also.

    good list though

    id have macklin above lee aswell.i love lee but at this time he deserves minimal praise.

    I like the list, but what's with the flags??. John Duddy and Stephen Haughian under the national flag, and Neil Sinclair, Brian Magee and Martin Lindsay under the historical Ulster flag. I dont get it. They are all Irish boxers. If your trying to be politicaly correct or something, and are assuming Magee and Lindsay are protesants, and might not want to be grouped in with the Irish tri-colour, I better inform you, that they are both cathoics[ so I assume nationalists/republicans]. Also if your going down that road, Neil Sinclair being a protesant[ and I assume unionist in thinking] would most likely prefer to be put under a Loyalist Ulster flag, not the historical nationalist one.:patsch

    I dont recognise the "Ulster Banner" (what some call the NI flag) so I dont use that. So I use the historical provincial flag for fighters from the six unless they expressly "come out" as Irish then I will you the tricolor. Hope that clears it up.

    Think that Rogie should be added?

    So it,s up to you, if someone is Irish or not! You need to rethink on that one mate. You could start offending a lot of guys here. Many people died for their political beliefs in the north, so I advise you to tread carefully.**** I don't like talking politics, but I needed to say that.:-(
