Where the hell is Paul McCloskey? Am i missing something here? BTW get rid of that stupid ulster flag beside the catholic fighters
this is a well-old story at this stage...but its a fight i was really looking forward to seeing...mc cullough v martinez...i thought mc cullough looked frightenly tight at the weigh-in..like a skeleton... any opinions on how this might have gone??...of course now we have the hindsight of the munroe fight against martinez... http://news.bbc.co.uk/solpda/ukfs_sport/hi/newsid_7122000/7122835.stm
basically its my page and I'll do what I want with it tbh Ardy. If I have evidence that a boxer from the six is a nationalist or considers themselves Irish then I will put a tricolor beside their names - I think it would be MORE disrespectful to put a tricolor beside their name without any evidence. I think the Ulster Flag rather than the Ulster Banner will have to do. As for McCloskey not being on the list - its a mistake - he is at number six - which you can see is missing - I'll get that fixed (he'll have a tricolor!
as usual I have done a piece on wikipedia about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiko_Martinez#Challenge_of_Wayne_McCullough
not trying to insult anyone - however, I dont understand how the Ulster Flag could ever be an insult to an Irishman
i agree that historically it can not be deemed offensive, however the symbol of ulster has become a stawart in unionist politics and therefore becomes automatically offensive as it has somehow separated ulster from the rest of ireland. yeah, where the hell is paul mccloskey in those rankings,he has to be no. 2!
on different forums that i frequent i hear similar debates starting up...and a lot of welsh v english etc {we're welsh not british etc}...i would have assumed that in 2008 most people would think its not that big of a deal..but seemingly its a very touchy subject for lots of people...not sure why, but i find it surprising..
Thats because I am using the tricolor for them - I've explained the reasons for the use of the Ulster flag. Now I've add a couple to the list - do you approve?
like I've said - unless i have evidence that they consider themselves Irish then I'll leave it the way it is - unless you'd prefer I use the Ulster Banner and not the Ulster Flag http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ulster_banner http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_Ulster
i wasn't criticising you in the slightest so don't come back all high and mighty with me.i was just suggesting that that is what some people might think. can we please not make this thread a place to vent political frustrations, can we instead keep it boxing related, this is not the place to be discussing who is right and who is wrong in terms of flag,we have many people on here who are from either persuasion, and to throw some poltical bull**** in their face is rather offensive. there was a big fight in ireland last night, noone got anything to say about that? and slapbangwhallop, what's the story with mccloskey,i 'hope' you just forgot him when making your rankings
sorry for snapping mate its just that Ardy has already had a go at me and I had the guard up. I am pretty politically minded but the last thing I would want to do is mix politics and sport - especially boxing. Boxing is probably the one place were the tribalism isnt such a problem. As for McCloskey is was a formating error and the list skipped from 5 to 7. Re check for a new entry at number 19 and at 6!
yeah i think you are!! sinclair was finished years ago! coyle and lindsay? all the hylands have achieved more than they have!
