If you're not going to be able to train as much as you want with travel or whatever then I'd suggest managing your diet more. Its not that hard after the intial getting used to it. I'm sure you will work it out. Also, if you're into your fizzy drinks then knock them on the head straight away.

Just try and form good habits is all. Hopefully the training forum will be able to help you out

Maybe Carlito could post his dietary plan or advise us porkers!

Carlos gave me some pretty good advice to be fair. He said don't drink pints of harp and eat packets of peanuts. Get up off your lazy arse and stop being a fat ****er and the old cliche/truism 'no pain, no gain'. Actually he gave me some pretty basic but sound advice. Basically don't eat rubbish and work out often.

To be honest Carlos diet wouldn't be much use to anyone on here until they are actually in as good shape as him. Even then it wouldn't be suitable unless you were willing to train like a mad ****er.

Different things suit different people. I found that just getting into the habit of working out every day was the best thing. I'm a lazy ****er at heart but if I don't do something 5-6 days a week now I miss it. Even if its just a 5 mile run to keep ticking over.

It'll be different for all of us but I reckon Joe Soap being in decent shape is more about diet than it is hard core exercise to begin with at least. A good diet and weight loss enable you to be able to increase the exercise and cardio/strength work further down the line.

I'm on the strength bit now myself :-( I ****ing hate lifting weights and doing crunches and press ups and planks (thanks for that one Carlos ) but its all worth it at the end of it I guess!

ha ha lads in fairness it is the summer and you have to have a drink in this weather!
I haven't done the white collar but I heard from a few lads in our club that started off with it that there were 1 or 2 ringers caught rapid a couple of years ago. In fact one lad said there was a well seasoned amateur in it and he got found out. Most of the well known trainers would know how to spot one though because when sparring they can't hide their natural instincts if an experienced trainer puts them under pressure. I always think the biggest cowards are the disguised ones who only fight boxers they know they can beat or have an advantage over. The lad I fought had some experience while I was a debutant but I was told in advance so I was cool with it but what I mean is if there was some serious mismatches I think its a disgrace to be honest. Thankfully this does not happen though.

Thats brutal paddymickey. I hate that. Any sport I ever was involved in I just wanted to play lads at the same standard as me no matter how good or bad at that particular sport I was.

Its actually worse for amateurs to be doing it in white collar boxing because theres a serious chance you could badly hurt someone. Scummy thing to do.

I know what you mean about the drinking in this weather. Luckily enough I have devised a diet/exercise routine that allows me to drink and not pile on the lbs either!

Well I run at least 10k a day and do at least 30 mins of free weight/body weight exercise. Basically its 60-80 minutes a day work out which is not that much really. You wouldn't have to do it all at once if you didn't want to either.

So that probably burns about an extra 1000 calories a day giving you a decent boost in what you can take in. The key then in what you eat (for me at least) is to keep the carbs low. Plenty of carbs in a gargling session so if you've overshot the runway with your carbs eating during the day then going on a session will max it out.

So stuff like grilled (skinless) chicken breasts, lean mince, pork chops etc.. are good for your main part of your meals.

So I'd be looking at some grilled chicken and potatoes with a load of veg for my dinner. Tuna sandwich for lunch etc.. that kind of thing. Make sure you fill your guts when you eat just make sure you are eating the right things.

Avoid all processed food too. They cost more and they are worse for you. I used to eat stuff like the auld Goodfellas deep dish bacon and mushroom. ****ing thing costs a fiver and has you hungry again 30 minutes later.

I'm far from an expert mind you but I know what works for me. I'm hardly super fit or super thin but I'm 11st 4lb ish now. For my height and build thats fine. I could just do with firming everything up a bit at which stage I reckon I'll be down at the 11st mark
I eat stuff that I like and that fills me up and leaves me satisfied. I don't worry about going for a gargle and I feel good because I've a decent basic level of fitness.

Horse for course but thats what works for me!

    EDIT

Oh last thing. If you are going to get a takeaway on the way back from the gargling session don't flake out 20 minutes after eating it. At least give it a half chance to digest before you hit the hay!
