Might have been for the better that Macklin/Pirog didn't happen.

You know I was thinking during that fight 'Pirog probably would have walked on to a lot of Macklin's left hooks and straight rights', and then after that big shot to finish it my mind thought the same as you.

He really, really can bang, dangerous for anyone at Middleweight. At times he's easy to hit because he has his hands so low and is squared on. At other times his head movement means he can slip shot after shot, but his chin looks granite so even if he is taking them he can persevere.

I've seen plenty of his other fights, but tonight was the real test. That's what Pirog is like up at genuine World level and tbh he's damn, damn good. As a few people are starting to mention, he could be the worthy test than Martinez deserves.

He does look quality. Looks big at the weight and hes far from the standard eastern euro fighter. Got pretty good upper body movement, as you said seems to have a good chin and he can bang.
Iwas well impressed with his body shot too.didnt throw too many but when he did they bothered Jacobs. Hes definitely a force to be reckoned with. Never realised he was 30 but he seems pretty fresh for it

I've never really rated Danny Jacobs was hoping Andy Lee would have got a crack at him alas Pirog got to him first....

was talking to Bam Bam before the fight and we both had Pirog picked:deal

not many "names" will now want to fight Pirog, therefore Lee could get a shout at him Whether he should take it with a belt on the line is another story...

If macklin beats barker wont he be mandatory so if nobody wants to fight him he'll prob go to the mandatory and im guessing macklin wont shy away from the challenge!

Quality body shots the one in the 4th was a better shot only to be ruled low.
Its funny that all of a sudden on most other threads Andy is again being called a contender along with 2 or three more good young fighters, its funny what one handy fight in America wil do for your profile.I think he definetly making the right choice concentrating on fights in the states and i was told hes out again in 7 weeks in chicago.

    Peters presents double trouble
1 August 2010 Brian Peters Promotions will hold a press conference at The Fighting Irishmen Exhibition in Croke Park on Tuesday to announce full details of the next Hunky Dorys Fight Night.
The bill will, for the first time in Ireland, feature two European title fights in a single night.
