IRISH ON OLYPMIC BUZZ http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2008/5/6/586963_344525562370IrishonO.html
I dont think I can make it to Belfast, but when you run one in Dublin, I will be the first in the door Cormac.
HONKY DORYS FIGHT NIGHT http://www.eastsideboxing.com/news.php?p=15565&more=1 MACKLIN EXCITED BY GIBBS BOUT http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/may08/may08_macklin_on_gibbs.html Another interesting facet to this promotion is the return to the ring of Darren Corbett. Good luck Darren, show them what the Bone men can do.:good
It's good to see big Darren back on the scene, I'd doubt he'll make much of a splash but he's an exciting fighter and popular with the Belfast fans, this card is shaping up VERY nicely. I believe Corbett is a Sacred Heart man like yourself Ardy??
Gibbs went tooth and nail with Leonard Pierre who Duddy stopped in 45 seconds(when he had power) and got destroyed by Edison Miranda in the 1st.He is fairly tough but Macklin should have enough skill to take a comfortable decision or maybe a late stoppage ps - Gibbs had been lined up to face Lee last month before Lee lost
looking forward to this july 12th card, macklins skill and intensity should get him past gibbs comfortably, but you never know, aint good for us irish to be to confident at the minute. any word on lee yet?any date estimated, any opponents mentioned, isnt going to be a vera rematch for certain?
Id love to see a vera re-match but it doesnt seem likely But the sooner the boy is back in the ring the better in my book :good Hey Cormac, have you heard any news on Mike Perez? I was hoping he'd be at the stadium on the 12th of july
That's right High Tower, Darren and his brother Eamonn boxed for Sacrad Heart, and their father Stanley helped train the kids alongside the other trainers Eamonn Maguire, Patsy McKenna and Eric McCullough. The community of Ardoyne and The Bone own these trainers a large amount of graditude for the time and effort they put into assiting the kids, in not only becoming better boxers, but better human beings also. When other kids were drinking, smoking or sniffing glue, we were training away in the boxing club, staying healthy and out of trouble. I doubt Darren can be the force he once was, but after a couple of shedding the rust fights, there is no reason why Darren can't challenge Jason McKay for the Irish light-heavyweight title. That fight would sellout the Ulster Hall.
The first supporters club evening is booked for Thursday, May 31 at 8pm in Dockers. Special guest is Neil Sinclair. £5 a head entry includes free raffle for signed glove.
happy days, look forward to it,nice coincidence im moving to belfast in 2 weeks aswell, can we bring our own glove to get it signed how do you think sinclair will get on in the title fight?
I think he can win. He has the power to KO anyone - but going to Rome you wonder if he can get a decision! Petrucci isnt a huge puncher so that helps - but he is undefeated so dont know just how good he is. I wouldnt think he would mind that - so bring it - if he says no he says no. I have no problem with it.
at this age though how do you think he'll handle making weight,in recent times he has seemed to struggle to make the welterweight limit, also he hasn't really showed his ko ability in his last few fights,i hope he doesnt go in there just looking for the ko,because although petrucci doesnt seem to be a very big puncher,he seems to be very well schooled. aye thats cool,i'll bring a glove up,what's the worst he could say lol outstanding work cormac getting the website up and running and your work for setanta aswell as the supporters club,im sure it will be a big boost to boxing north and south.
now ardy...theres nothing wrong...with a bit of drinking smoking and glue sniffing...they never did me any harm:nut ....im only kidding...fair play to all the am. triainers who give up so much of there free time ...to help the boxers..
podge...i read the reportr in irish boxing.com on egan...is there any further news on egans promotion on the 12th july...now that peters has presented such a strong show on the same date
