Yeah mike, I wouldnt like to think his career is leading that way, as he is the most exciting fighter we irish have.

Im glad there is no clash - it wouldnt have done anyone any favours. Hopefully both promoters can put on quality shows all over the country all of the year. There is no reason why there cant be 3/4 shows a year in both Belfast and Dublin. 2 in Derry/Donegal. 2 in Cork etc. Crowding a market is a different matter and Im glad this isnt happening now. Hopefully it sets a precident for how to deal with things in future

Cormac, surely your not suggesting some form of quota. Boxing like everything is supply and demand.If we have enough boxers,and promoters are willing to put promtions on every week in Dublin, and people are willing to pay entrance fees, and tv is willing to screen the fights, then that would be great.I know it's very unlikely, but crowding the market is ok if demand is there. Cormac, when is the fan club coming to Dublin?
i don't think so at all,irish boxing isn't really in a position to crowd the market with Peters commanding power over the top name boxers here,if promoters such as egan can get their fights shown on separate nights this will garner a greater interest for boxers outside the big names here and allow for more big events to be staged,i don't think that the promoters need to be in aggressive competition with one another because lets be honest any card dunne fights on will be a sellout,but instead the promoters should allow the greatest access for boxing to the community that will allow much more interest.if we crowd events too close together (let's be real boxing isn't cheap) the fans will suffer and so will the boxers who will no longer get a big audience,we need cooperation to allow boxing to fluorish. can someone clear up for me which jamie moore will be fighting on the egan card,the one who beat macklin or the one who fights out of mew york?it's really confusing me.
100% agree - well done Egan - and although I am in no position to slag off Peters I have to say that if he scheduled his card to deliverately clash with Egans then he should hang his head in shame.
Greengloves, I wasn't implying that Egan was wrong to change the dates. If you read Cormac post, he was suggesting that Dublin or Belfast can only sustain a certain amount of shows ayear. I was simply making the point that supply and demand should dicate the amount of shows per year.Read our posts, then you will get the gist of what I was meaning.

If the demand is there it isnt crowding the market - but how often could you afford to spend €60 going to the boxing? Taking the bills around the country has been a great success and definitely Dublin and Belfast can handle more bills - but I would hate a situation where there is nobody at a quality bill because they have been forced to make a financial choice between competing bills. Hopefully fanclub in Dublin in June - certainly will be around the time of the two shows in July
Fair enough Cormac, I wouldnt have liked to make a choice between the bills, but I think Dunne and Macklin would have been hard to decide against, but alls well that ends well, now I can go to both.:hey
