Who is the light middle champion of Ireland at the minute (Healy i believe)Point being Coyle and Moore packed the stadium for their irish amateur title fight and would do the same for the Pro title.Now that would be a headline contet to remember

 

McGuigan's son, Shane is having sucess in the amateurs at (I think) welterweight. With his father in his corner.

thanks mike...he has plenty of pop in those punches...a fight against james moore in Ireland would b huge...i hope they start improving coyles opponent...so we can c his real worth.

 

just watched a all the henry coyle stuff i could and sorry he is seriously flawed,he has decent fundamentals but his footwork is all over the place,he gets caught too often by sub-par opposition and puts his combinations together too wide which leaves him so open to any decent counter puncher,from the looks of this he may find himself padding his record for quite a while before falling at the first real step up in class.

saying that though,he is very young and has a long time in the game to work on his flaws to make him a well rounded boxer and i'm sure that if he is as serious as iceman says he is he will do just that.however a fight with james or jamie moore would be tragic for coyle and his career as these two operators are a step above coyle.

 

greengloves...he is a come forward brawler...so he will get caught a bit more...much like duddy....he has beaten moore in the ams...but its his strength and power of punch thats is his main weapons...a bit of fine tuning on his all round boxing skills...and who knows

 

its all very good being a come forward brawler when your opposition is pretty weak,but we will se when he steps up in class,hope i'm wrong.

 

i agree with your view on his short-comings..but there are two types of stars...a world star...and an irish star...coyle with his exciting style...can make people take notice of him..and maybe get involved in some interesting matches...it will b fun watching him.

 

Podge or Cormac, could you tell me when the July5th Egan promotin start selling tickets. Egan has only about six weeks to sell the show, so you would think the tickets should be on sale by now.:huh

 

That sounds like a excellent night of boxing. Belshaw seems like a bit of a prospect.There has been some talk about Belshaw v Rogan. That would be a great scrap. Does any one think Belshaw could tumble Rogie.

Sorry I'm a bit late getting back to you. Gary O'Sullivan is 23. Family man with two youngsters. He was a terrific amateur - five national titles, 175 wins from 190 contests - but said he always wanted to turn pro 'cos his power and style suited the game.
He's restricted with quality sparring in Cork but he's looking to change that in the near future. More than willing to travel to get it, he said. Good f'n guy, very accessible to fans and media.
I hope he goes far - Cork could do with a star in the making to make boxing as big as hurling here.
