Can someone explain to me what the **** McCloskey is playing at??

Realistically how bad could this deal TO FIGHT FOR A WORLD TITLE actually be???

McCloskey is 31 for ****s sake, he aint no spring chicken and these opportunities dont pop up all the time....

    Boxing is all about risk/reward.

McCloskey has options and doesnt need to prostitute himself for Team Khan's gratification.

McCloskey couldn't have too much confidence in beating Khan. Simple as that. I would be shocked if he gets a title shot this year, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if he has just refused what would be his only opportunity of a world title shot.

What options? Alexander of Bradley don't even know who he is, nobody in the States knows who he is.

**** that, lets be honest here, you get into boxing to fight for world titles..How bad could the offer possibly have been??

This sort of **** is the shame of boxing irrespective of the **** team khan are/were trying to pull.

He might end up looking back on these past few weeks when he's retired in 4-5 years and say to himself , what the **** was I thinking...He may never get this chance again and thats not something any real boxing fan (and fans of Irish boxing in particular) should be taking lightly...

I have a fear that Barry Hearns ego might of been a major reason as to why this fight has not been made....

I agree with this. McCloskey deserves his fair percentage of the PPVs and ticket sales. How many Irish will buy a PPV or attend this because McCloskey is fighting for a World Title?

Hearn is a no mug and I am sure he only asked for what McCloskey is worth and no more.

Would like to know the details of the offer/terms before casting judgement on an irish champion and would have thought most Irish boxing supporter would be the same.

hes defo not far off a wbc shot
olusegun chebah 1 and 3 respectively are fightin an eliminator
morales no2 is fightin marquez at lw
mccloskey at 4 will fight olu/chebah for vacant title in summer
id say that is a very likely scenario as alexander/bradlley are defo not fightin olu/chebah winner

    They dont have to!

the WBC title will likely be vacant soon and McCloskey can fight the winner of Olugegun-Chebah for it.

Then he can fight Khan or whoever on more reasonable terms.

“We have a huge fight lined up for Paul at King’s Hall in the spring and who knows, not long down the line he could face Amir as a World Champion himself in a 50-50 split fight,” said Hearn.

For any of you in the know, Is this a realistic possibility? If it is, then why did McCloskey try to get the fight in the first place, he should have gotten the belt then fight Khan for more money.

If mccloskey was confident in beating khanwhy not take the fight, beat him, and call the shots next fight when defending it , the offer he got will be prob be more than he will get in the next 3-5fights !

Khan's team aren't too bright, they could have sweetened the deal by offering a rather large win bonus to McCloskey, and since Paul's team seemed confident he could win, they probably would have taken it.
