Cant agree with that mate, the fact that the fight is on TV is really down to Dolphil. In my opinion it is **** poor by RTE that the "associated television production costs " are being covered by the promoter. Do you think Blackrock, Terenure ect pay anything for coverage of the Schools Rugby or the Hockey finals which attract a live crowd of less than 500. They now have sports fans in there pocket for the day and will make on selling advertising time.

i know dey were let down with tv left payin it themselves
but i have t say the promotion of this fight was a bit laughable
best card ireland has ever seen 7 title fights
haha no better than peters run of the mill cards
made very big statements they couyldnt back up
and it wasnt rtes fault they couldnt show this fight
the promoters went into this thinin they were somehow privilaged to be showin this
gary hyde with his bollox that espn were showin it
also havin the two cubans on it till the last week another kop out for ticket sales
    rant over

have to agree with some of that mainly the card and the late pull outs but now is the time for everyone to pull together and hope for a miracle and a world title for one of our own lads,Willie or Brian it doesnt matter.
The promoters did appear a bit green but that how you learn,I read the cubam were taken off the card by the promoters anyone got any more info on this??

it's Setanta and not RTE that show that schools cup! And in the schools cups defense it has its own pull outs in the big papers on a daily basis. We hosted a schools cup game in our local club (rugbys only working class club) and we made a fortune- it was packed. It was a junior game and talking to the coaches at 15 the players train twice a day 6 days a week. Do videos sessions etc. the coaches are paid not teachers- so there is money in it somewere!hence tv companies desire to show it!!

I honestly think we should get on to RTE and congratulate them for coming to an agreement to show the Casey fight. I heard the flak they got was key to them making a deal. A good response, even if its just to say you made the right decision, might persuade them to show more.

If Casey pips Dunne's 650,000 -700,000 viewers they couldn't say no next time out-and considering he gets 400,000 when he is on the Brendan O'Connor show i think he can do it!
