Duddy is by far the biggest money maker that Phillips can fight, he's not a big draw himself so the fight won't be based where he can attract a crowd .

The only way this ends up outside somewhere picked for Duddy to draw a crowd is if it is on a Vegas undercard . I'm still betting this happens later this year in New York .

So there is plenty of hope their yet . However obviously Peter got more coverage than Tommy will with TV 3 but that still doesn't mean he can't get good viewing figures with his cards in the future .

The location picked is very important though, you really have to attract a minimum of 1,000 people to these events if they are to be feasible in the long term and a place like the National Basketball Arena is just a big out of the way and didn't help drawing in the crowd . Maybe having as many of the Dublin cards in the National Boxing Stadium as possible would be a good idea, I don't remember that place not selling out for a professional card or the amateur Senior Championships .

Promotion of these events is going to be key in the early stages, once people get accustomed to them then they will go frequently but people have to know they're there in the first place and being honest not many people knew this promotion was on last Saturday .

 

We could at least have confidence in Duddy with Phillips than as per Pavlik. But by the sounds of it we won't see it in Ireland! What a pity because I would have got to see it on RTE2.

 

I wouldn't completely discount this being shown on RTÉ, after all they did show Bernard Dunne v Marian Leondraliu(a Romanian journeyman) from Germany in a 6 rounder. We also got to see Arthur Abraham v Kingsley Ikeke for the vacant IBF Middleweight title because of that .

They also showed Bernard Dunne v Sergio Carlos Santillian an 8th rounder from Italy, this was shown after midnight and still managed to achieve over 250,000 viewers . The fight was actually shown Live on RTÉ.ie , the first fight they had shown .

Dunne's popularity in Ireland at the time of the Leondraliu fight was probably equal to what Duddy's is now, it was his 4th fight since coming home .

At the time of the Santillian fight he had built a real big following , so was a bigger profile than Duddy is in Ireland now then . I'd say if the fight is available at a reasonable price RTÉ may very well pick it up . Unfortunately thinking about it they will not have rights to host the stream worldwide so you'll be out in the cold either way :-(

Duddy has fought 3 times in Ireland recently, headlining every time . He was also on Ireland's second most watched chat show Tubridy tonight, however if he'd just have had 1, maybe 2 more fights at home I think it would be certain RTÉ would be showing it .

I'd love if it still managed to be in Ireland though . The Point(to be renamed the O2 Arena when reopened :verysad) won't be open till December though and the only other way to have the fight here would be to put it on in one of the big stadiums such as Croker(82,500 capacity, probably more for boxing) and promote the hell out of it .

 

If its in Ireland it would be in the Odyssey in Belfast which holds 10,000. It was where the world amateur championships were in 2001. Neil Sinclair and Jim Rock were on a bill there a few years back. Would be a fantastic spot

 

That would mean a weekender to Belfast.Maybe you could run a supporters club meeting the night before.:heyIs the fight close to signing Cormac?:deal
