Thanks lads for the words of support on the book. Perez I seen box in Breaffy and he looks the goods.As for Coyle I judged him a few times in the amateurs and also chatted to him a few times and he is one of the nicest guys in Ireland.

 

With Moore calling out Coyle, things are starting to get interesting. I would love to see that fight.Who do you think would win, should they fight?:huh

 

Need to see more of their current fights but Coyle seemed to have the momentum a few years ago.Love to see that fight...a real pick 'em fight.

 

moore is the better boxer....but his chin let him down last time out...coyle has the power and is younger...but has fought at a lower level...its a 50-50 fight for sure:good

I have just read the article,its good, Sinky says Peters is running a show in September.So that will mean at least three shows for that month. Paddy Hyland is running a show in Dublin, Gary Hyde in Cork, and now Peters. Also according to Podge, there will be an announcement from Egan and tv3 soon about there next show.Pro boxing is fairly taking a foothold here in the republic:happy. Its a pity, the north is on the wane, there doesn,t seem to be anything happening up there ATM.:verysadYour from up there, whats happening Cormac:huh

 

The main problem is VAT law. Same reason the GAAs main ground in Ulster is in Clones (population 3,000) instead of somewhere like Belfast, Omagh, Newry, Eniskillen etc. You dont have to pay very much (if any) VAT on entertainment events down south whereas up north you do. Gordon Brownes tax man David Varney has said he will not change tax law for Northern Ireland so I dont expect that to change. What I do expect to have an impact though is the economy down south. Its not great up here either - but nowhere near as bad. So the reality is that big profits for promoters and boxers are probably a thing of the past meaning a greater spread of events (including Belfast) and cheaper tickets.
Also the natural small venue for boxing in Belfast (The Ulster Hall) is still closed for refurbishment and you really need a massive event for the Kings Hall and Odyssey. It probably wont be until the Ulster Hall (Which is owned by the Council so relatively cheap to rent) is reopened early next year that more bills will take place up north.
