lee and mccloskey..have tough fights tomorrow nite....mccloskeys fight is a good guage ...on good he is...as wright has fought the best in britain...and is no mug r shot fighter...has anyone any views on tomorrow nite:good
I think tomorrow is a defining day for two of Ireland's best fighters. I was surprised Lee's comeback would be against someone as good as Gibbs, but as he said an easy fight would prove nothing. A knockout win and he's back on track, a loss and.....can't see Manny in the corner anymore. McCloskey was referred to as the most protected fighter by ring magazine. Wright is by far his toughest fight to date...although we said that about Bazan and Garnica before that. Apparently the winner is in line for a British or European title fight. With two southpaws who have never been stopped, I think this could be the fight of the night. Let's hope all the Irish fighters win. I'm going to it...anyone else?
im not going ectoplasm..its a bit far 2 travel...i live in the north...but im really looking forward to watching it on rte...more so than last week...which was always going 2b routine wins for dunne and rock....but these fights tomorrow...will be close...i agree mccloskey v wright could b fight of the nite...haughian has a tough fight against the italian also..:good
things are not going to bad...duddy is being lined up for the lightmiddle world title...some of r prospects have fallen...but more r emerging all the time...things r moving in the right direction...so dont scoff:good
Scott Belshaw might be on Friday Fightnight tonight http://www.irish-boxing.com/stories/july08/july08_belshaw_williams_bill.html
We've more prospects than you can shake a stick at(okay well a hell of a lot more than we used to) and a couple of guys establishing themselves as contenders too . Brian Magee, John Duddy, Matthew Macklin, Andy Lee, Simon O'Donnell, James Moore, Henry Coyle, Stephen Haughian,Gary O'Sullivan, Billy Walsh, Paul McCloskey, Andrew Murray, Oisín ***an, Bernard Dunne . Yes some have lost, and no of course they're not all going to be World champions, some mightn't even get close but I reckon we've at least one World champion in that bunch . and if we don't **** it , we'll just do the like the Germans and nationalise those 3 Cubans(Perez+ the other two) and we're bound to get one . When you consider we have guys like Martin Rogan, Jason McKay, Jim Rock, Neil Sinclair, Eddie Hyland, Patrick Hyland, Eugene Heagney and plenty of guys only after turning pro(such as Kresham and Power who are fighting tonight) then our pro seen is actually in a very good position . Just that's not what's seen on the outside as some of the guys at the very top(Lee, Dunne, Duddy, Moore) have had some set backs recently . But overall we're in a good place and when you throw in 5 Olympians(which is more than Germany and none of them are even born there) we're in fantastic shape . 0 boxing stations in America cover boxing currently...........we got 2 . As for Scott Belshaw, he's a prospect in the sense he could turn out to be British level but don't expect any higher . I'm glad he got revenge over Peret but to lose to the guy in the first place was shocking . I'd love to see our heavyweights mixing it with each other . Martin Rogan, Kevin McBride, Scott Belshaw, Colin Kenna, Declan Timlin and get James Clancy back aswell . Luke Simpkin is egilible aswell but I wouldn't be bothered seeing him in the mix . There no reason why we haven't had an Irish Heavyweight title fight in over 10 years when you have 6 or so Heavyweights about . Get them fighting each other and have the winner face Perez . I'd go along with the Lee by stoppage, McCloskey wide on points for tonight aswell . Also when did Ring call McCloskey the most protected fighter out there ?, seems a bit of an outlandish statement .
LEE HOPING TO BOUNCE BACK AFTER FIRST LOSS http://www.irishnews.com/articles/597/556/2008/7/15/592866_351490092957Leehoping.html Are you all getting ready for the big fight tonight lads.Come on LEE,come on LEE:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy:happy
