I borrowd a friends mirror today, I look the same only a little older:nut Seriously I didn't notice that article, when I briefly read that paper today. Maidana V McCloskey in Belfast would be sensational, but the money he would want would be huge [to much for Matchrooms budget], as much as I would love to beleive it's possible. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8TZe156IiY[/ame] Lads, watch this performance from young Michael Conlon. He's got every punch in the book , excellent footwork, and is starting to put more spite into his punches. This kid has a real chance of making the Olympics.
Good man ardy . conlon has a very good chance as do all the team bar maybe 91+ . johny i seen the article in the mirror and it said there are ongoing talks with maidanas team and he is up for it if goldenboy let him . i reckon they could tempt him over and the money would be made up with the 10,000 at the odeysee plus sky money but mccloskey would have to take the short end of the deal
Are you based in Ulster Moorser? dnt think it was used down south I will get a version of it up online- soon! would be a massive fight for Belfast! despite some suggesting Boxing is waning a bit here we are getting amazing bouts....If McCloskey keeps it up he could give us bigger nights than the great bernard Dunne- Im stilling yearning for on more Dunne packed Point show though! Miss the hair on the back of the neck stand up atmosphere Dunne's fans provided.. McCloskey Khan was something specail fan wise too-pity that wasnt on Sky
Im in dublin johnny . yeah i hope someone can fill the point in the near future the dunne fights were something special alright especially the cordoba fight ,best sporting occasion i was ever at !
My favourite is still pickering-but that could be because it was the first fight i got paid to watch-when i was with a local paper any Dunne news was gospel so i used to get double pages to fill for his fights! Have that story frammed! I was talking to Stephen Ormond today- i recall him being touted as the natural replacement for Dunne, Dunne even spoke highly of him, himself...
agree with ye that stephen could be dunnes replacement can see him challenging for titles within a year or two hopefully!!
Ormond v Kavanagh for the Irish lightweight title in 2012. :bbb Congrats on your recent win btw. :good
why that bam ive only seen a snippet to be honest the ko of cornu which was sweet but hes been praised to the hilt by alot of people...read somewhere a while ago that when he was in us dibella said he wouldve loved t sign him up that hed be world champ in 2 years but he came home cause his gf was unsettled overn der?
Thanks 4 that vid Ardy u don't see much of the local lads up on YouTube especially the ams, but I've seen conlon a few times boxing in belfast an he has always impressed me with his movement but he looks like a complete different fighter there he had every punch in the book an super fit, defo 1 to watch!! Any1 else c lindsey back out on sat in Liverpool about time Maloney needs 2 push him back in the mix b4 he misses his chance.
Saw him twice against Eurobums here he looked okay and nothing more fairly box standard fight couple of pro fights. Nothing on his record suggests he's made huge strides. He's still fighting shite opposition and only has 10 fights under his belt in nearly 3 years as a pro. I'll go on more concrete stuff than people merely saying he's great. People were bigging him up here a while ago as well. I just haven't seen anything to suggest he's headed for greatness. Lou DiBella, and every other promoter, probably says every lad he signs is going to be a world champion. Talk is cheap. I can say I think I'm going to climb everest and then skydive off the top before knocking out Mike Tyson. It doesn't mean it's going to happen. He hasn't fought anyone even approaching euro level yet so I find talk of world titles a bit premature. I'd love him to go on and do great things. The same goes for all our lads but he's 28 and done nothing of note so far. Give me something to get excited about and I'll get excited. So far it's all talk and nothing more.
Agree with you Moorser, I've known of Conlans talent for some years now, but its great to watch a kid really starting too shine. I think Lindsay is being lined up for Smith after this weeks contest. But it will be on A Frank ****** promotion in Liverpool.
