That's a disgrace. The fella must be gutted. Missed the fight myself as I was at work but going by the reaction on this thread it must have been terrible. As someone suggested earlier, at least it happened here and not at the worlds or the olympics!

Not much chat on the Brit forum about Macklin... I'm surprised to be honest.

Is it a case that they're happy enough for him to be recognised as an Irishman or is it just a case that they don't give him a chance and therefore aren't getting behind him..?

I think the whole thing is very strange, they're quick enough to claim anyone that they have no entitlement to (eg. I recently saw Michael Carruth on list of British fighters who fought for a world title on the Brit forum) and here they have a guy who was born in Birmingham, boxed in the ABA's and has lived his whole life in the UK and their not arsed getting behind him

Whatever about his chances, if Barker was fighting Sturm this weekend, it would not be as quiet and plenty of dopes would be all over it with the 'he can do it....' stuff.

I thought Rhodes would beat Alvarez :patsch backed him too. More a case of underrating Alvarez than overrating Rhodes though. Canelo looked a different fighter to the previous times Id seen him
