Haughian won on points. He boxed really well, good strong jab and won every round. His opponent is very durable and has been in with some bangers and not got stopped, so I wasnt in the least bit surprised that this went to points.

Tolan v O'Kane was a good fight, O'kane was trying to stop him from the first bell, and staggered Tolan with good right hands and then brought in the uppercut, he then went to town with savage body shots that took their toll. But, Tolan gave O'Kane a good fight and landed his own shots. Tolan was retired at the end of the fifth round.

Conlan won on points with another classy display - really good body shots, uppercuts and he planted his feet and stood in front of Spencer moreso than their first fight. I spoke to Delroy after the fight and he said Conlan was sharper than the last time they fought and he took the fight to him more by standing in front of him to exchange.

The two Belfast debutants - McCullough and Nesbitt were in an exciting fight, but McCullough was too strong for him and stopped him in the second. The ref stopped it earlier or corner should have threw the towel as Nesbitt was out on his feet and was not defending himself with his hands dangling by his waist as McCullough landed 4 or 5 unanswered shots in the corner - disgraceful refereeing.

Mark Ginley won on points.

Dee Taggart beat Duprato on points - but this was a great wee fight, a real tear up from the first bell.

Bobby George won by late stoppage - he looks like a class act and it is a real bonus to see a classy operator like that on a small hall card - he is worth looking out for. Great skill and movement and he has all the punches.

 

As I said to my missus before the fight. Macklin needed to win by 4 rounds to have a chance of gettting a draw in Germany.

 

And I heard Ciaran Healy stopped Brendan Fitzpatrick in the first round. Healy is getting better with age, I was delighted for Healy.

True, and the commentators said something similar at the very beginning of the bout. I think they struggled with what they thought was going to win the round and what they were thinking what was enough to win it in Germany. Still I am very gutted for Macklin.

We're singing off the same hymn sheet Gasman. He won the fight clearly but winning the fight clearly isn't enough to get the nod in Germany. Espcially not against an actual German rather than a German supported figther.

The whole 'I need to knock him out to get a draw' cliche, which I think Macklin quoted pre-fight, was never more evident than tonight

Honestly, Macklin surprised me with this performance I didnt think it would be as close, I was getting tired watching him work as hard from the first bell - he was relentless and I have to take my hat off to Joe Gallagher - great gameplan and he had Macklin in tip top shape. Very unlucky tonight.

Spike looked assured calm and sensationally powerful! a left to the temple had long, who is a tough nut, down..

Pajo look comfortable against a defensive fighter-eddie and paulie got knock outs! Eade won but got caught and droped at the death! Ormond nearly took his lads head of 10 times before eventually stopping him

They could have got Eddie hyland a tougher opp , Eddie must have been at least a stone heavier, paulie didn look great at all , spike looked very good nice and relaxed picked his shots and threw them with serious power , ormand was good lovely boxing , gave his opp a good beating . Fitzgerald was watching spike close , hopefully we get to see spike v fitz , have to say on the way spike boxed long , I think spike beats fitzy all night !
