Fair play to Macklin, Gave a great preformance. Score cards were wrong but I am very slow to criticise Strum. Fight was close in the finish and strum seems a decent fellow.

Well done Slappy, getting some great interviews and looking very professional in the suit.

If Macklin does get the offer of the rematch great, but if other big offers come from this they should be considered before jumping back in there with Strum.

Great video. Saw a bit of the entrance on the epix broadcast. Macklin proved himself to be world class and should be a world champ. Dan Rafael of espn had it 116-112 for macklin, and he and Lennox Lewis were both disgusted with the result afterwards. John duddy did a great job with the ring interviews as well and told Mack that he had him winning by 3 rounds. Very proud of macklin.

 

Great videos Leonard, we would have missed all of that otherwise, i.e. the post fight presser etc. I am definitely going to the rematch, that just whets the appetite even more.

 

QUIGG LANDS WORLD TITLE ELIMINATOR

SCOTT QUIGG’S showdown against Franklin Varela next month will be a WBA world title eliminator.
The 22-year-old will also risk WBA intercontinental super-bantamweight title against the Venezuelan in his hometown at Bury’s Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday July 23.
But crucially the prestigious governing body have made the bout an eliminator for Japanese star Akifumi Shimoda’s WBA world crown.
In the organisation’s latest published rankings Scott is ranked seventh, with Varela just behind him at number 11.
Whoever wins the Bury brawl will be elevated higher and closing in on the winner of Shimoda’s defence next month against number one contender Rico Ramos.
Quigg who is also due to meet British champion Jason Booth in October has won all 21 pro fights.
He said after receiving the news from Hatton Promotions agent Philippe Fondu: “I am buzzing about the news and Hatton Promotions have delivered yet again.”
Varela has won 19 of his 24 contests and Hatton Promotions President Ricky Hatton added: “We have moved Scot along steadily, but now he is in world class and will prove it against Varela.

If Quigg is fighting for a World Title Eliminator next month with a definite world title shot the Shimoda, then surely his proposed British Title fight is off with Booth.

So, potentially that would leave the door open for Carlos to fight Booth.

I haven't seen the Macklin fight yet but a mate of mine said he thought it was a fair enough result. I'm intrigued by this fight now.. I might watch it with the sound off and score it..

Spike was very impressive on Saturday night.. You wouldn't expect Robbie Long to get stopped in the first round, I thought he had his hands a bit low but I suppose he was probably really hurt from a body shot. Fair play to Ciaran Healy.. just shows what a tough business this can be.. hopefully Fitzpatrick will bounce back from it, in fairness to him he was boxing quite well up till then. Strange that the two most competitive match ups were over in a round.

I think Finbarr Eade's opponent was trying to lure him into a false sense of security, the Bulgarian looked the fittest of any of the three journeymen they brought over but he boxed retarted for the first round (I would have fancied my own chances against him!) and he got caught with some decent shots in the first and the second round. Nothing much happened in 3, 4 and 5 but Eade got the points for all of them, he may have been quite fortunate in the end because they scored the last round 10-8 to the Bulgarian bar the knock down. If the judges had of seen the mid rounds differently then he could have been in trouble..

 

He's signed to fight Gurrero for the regular WBA title because Khan was made the WBA super champ, thats how McCloskey is fightin for the WBA interm title becuase Maidana relinquished it to fight for the regular one,

Macklin is a class act no doubt. The way he carried himself during the post fight presser. A lesser man would have been fúckin and roaring after the "decision" of the fight. He's a credit to Irish/Brummie boxing fans. A pure gentleman. Christ the injustice makes me sick
