I agree and disagree. Sturm landed the more eyecatching punches throughout but does two eye catching punches a round trump 2.50 of pressurising hard work to the head and body? I'll watch the fight again this evening.
Ill have to rewatch as well but I just feel an awful lot of Macks shots werent getting through. The uppercuts worked well at the start but later on he insisted on throwing them and was just catching elbows and forearms. When he threw the straight right ( rarely) it was finding a home. Even Gallagher was imploring Mack to throw straight shots but he carried on with the hooks and uppercuts. Also, after the 5th the body attack wasnt as relentless which let Sturm back into the fight imo. Granted though, Mack had put a huge effort into the first 4 rounds and couldnt sustain that pressure the whole way through

There was no way that fight should have been a split decision. In my eyes, Sturm won that fight by at least an 8 to 4 score in terms of rounds. The judges scored it 116-112, and 116-111 for Sturm, and one judge had Macklin winning by a score of 115-113. I tend to agree with the 116-111 score. That seems more fitting for this fight. Macklin was totally gassed out after the 4th round and just throwing weak shots. Its not Sturms fault that he was landing the harder shots and jabbing Macklin to pieces. Macklin looked like hed been run over by a truck after the fight with eyes blackened. Macklin landed more shots in the fight but it was weak punches compared to Sturm. Macklin needs to go on a strength building regimen, because he was really lacking in strength last Saturday night against Sturm. Besides that, Macklin looked like a spent force after the 4th. He kept throwing punches but his power wasnt there.

I was langers watching but had Macklin taking it by a round or so. Everyone who I was with in my house thought he won. If he gets a rematch as promised im ****in off over to Germany for it i dont give a ****.

thought it was gonna be the Mosquera that fought Valero a few years back. Was about to scream bloody murder bout it being sanctioned. Dunno anything bout this lad but hes panamianian which immediately qualifies him for a WBA title shot.A win would get Dudey a good ranking but like I said bout the Magee fight , no one should be calling it a world title fight
Mosquera-Valero was a f****g awesome fight. If he's coming over to Belfast then prepare for fireworks. Valero hit the deck, Mosquera went down about three times, all in front of a wild Panama crowd if I remember correctly. Got hold of a copy at the time, cracking scrap. Watch it if you can. :good
Your right of course, but i remember a lot of posters getting annoyed on here, when it was suggested that Dunne wasn't a real world champion also. This Panamian only drew last week, I remember because BET365 were giving odds on his fight. So you have a boxer coming off a loss, and another a draw boxing for a "world title". Only in boxingatsch
@steve Mosquera was a good fighter but he was past his best come the Valero fight. Still exposed flaws in Valero though. Flaws some on here forget since Valero died. That murdering ******* is vastly overrated since he died. Anyway that rant over. @Ardy the Dunne one is strange when you look back at it. He was the ordinary champ and Caballero was super champ but if you look back at it now its Dunnes title is now the real WBA title. Poonsawat lost to the Jap and so on until now whoever is the full champ ( shimoda I think ) beat the man who beat Poonsawat. Its as if the WBA forgot they had another champion there.

That's the first time I have seen Spike and he is one tough boyo. Picked his shots well and they were big shots. On the downside he didnt seem to use his feet much, maybe that is because he didnt respect Long's power or ability, plus he seemed to slap a bit with his right....Still, he looks like he will be involved in some good fights and could go far.
Just watched the Macklin fight, disgraceful decision.
