Sad news with the death of George Kimball. He's been one of the best writers in the Irish media on boxing for years now.

Rip to a very good writer, I recently read his book the four kings, and it was excellent.

 

So lets get this straight - are we looking at the following -

August - Peters in Mayo

September - Hyde in Limerick/Cork

October - BDR in Dundalk

or is their another DolPhil/Hyland show as well?

why wouldnt hyde put his georgian lad in with deano, deano had done nothng to impress in the professionals !and im taking nothing away from deano cos i was a friend of his in the amateurs! yes deano could win this fight but hydes boxer would have nothing 2 fear deano aint a big puncher

 

I think it was Deano that everything to lose and little to gain and said no thanks before a formal offer was made,
Sensible decision that Georgian lad can bang and with only 4 fights a victory ove him wouldnt do a whole lot for Deanos profile.

 

It seemed Hyde has no problem putting him in with Deano. Deano isn't interested in it and he's dead right. Why have such a high calibre fight that would make pittance. A year from now they could fight for an EBU title.

Bryan Vera has signed with Lou DiBella. Big fights to come down the line for Lee at middleweight and don't discount Chavez Jnr, Manfredo. Both real possibilities but think Vera is still most likely.

ive seen the lad fight reynoso after johnnyhips put me onto a website and he had the tough mexican ****er floored and rocked several times ..
havin said that i heard dean wasnt too slick his last time out in dublin but i think that could be sumtin to do with the fact he hasnt been settled the last couple of years
from what ive seen and heard of him witch admittedly is only one fight (iv'e seen) he looks the goods

Lads - Best rematches involving an Irishman. Shoot:

Rinty and McLarnin both won world titles in rematches (after losing first). McCullogh and McAuley (Mack curse?) both tried to avenge world title defeats unsuccessfully. Collins, well he was good at em.

 

RIP. Four kings was the best sports book i've read.

 

I'm dissapointed that my "Many experts felt" line in the Macklin article went completely unnoticed.
