I have held back on this hoping in vain to get a bet on Barnes to qualify for the Olympics as I think he is a near certainty if the IABA fulfill his stated wish to get competitive fights, the Chemistry Cup is not enough. Only his unreal fitness got him past Myers, Metcalfe showed up some of his rustiness last year and at the Worlds, he lost to a fella that Burnett schooled at the World Youth. Indeed Conlon and O'Neill will need competition too as they won't have qualifiers while JJN is ok provided he watches that weight in the WSB. Back to the 49 kg qualifers; There are four places left for Europeans and Paddy is the stand-out fighter. The best light-flys are in Asia and then the Americas. Below are my top 10 Euro picks; 1-Barnes 2-Ayrapetan-Russia 3-Alizada-Azerbaijan 4-Galanov-Russia 5-De la Neive-Spain 6-Beccu-France 7-Ferramosca-Italy 8-Pehlivan-Turkey 9-Edwards-GB 10-Danielyan-Armenia with honourable mention to the Ukrainian Shkarubo. Ayrapetan and de la Neive have already qualified and Galonov as a Russian cannot now get in. Alizada could beat Barnes on a good night but after that we are down to 6 to 10 who are all very even and a step below our wee fella. PS, IABA, get him fights!
Well seeing as it was allegedly unprovoked there's a good chance the attacker came from behind him. The vast majority of "random guys" could do damage to a pro/semipro boxer from behind

Is he worse than some that have already been added, or are to be added! Here's one for ya, if you were Lee Murtagh and you beat JJ McDonagh tonight, would you be annoyed if you were left out of the line-up and Cruise and JJ :smoke were added!? Might not be worth even discussing as JJ should have enough to take a points decision I reckon. Tough fight for Fitzer as well, lets not forget that.
