Just wondering how many of this am team will end up going pro after these quailifers and the Olympics in London. Think by the time of the next Olympics we will be doing well to have any of this team stay on in the ams for Brazil. Hopefully Joe Ward does but you just never know what will happen between now and then.

Am very confident Barnes will qualify saw his lad in dublin and wasnt that impressed,Hand on heart i dont think the other two are good enough (really hope im wrong)to qualify in two tough groups and the weight circumstances final place and winner go to london,If Paddy is the only qualifier will this tournament be seen as a major disapointment or will the iaba be happy with 4 qualifiers with our womans team still to come,
Must admit i was expecting maybe another 3 from this qualifier,

I agree with this. Think its too big an ask for nolan and mccarthy. I was expecting Ward and Barnes to qualify quite comfortably. Was fairly confident DOJ would, think he might have got unlucky with the draw though cos that lithuianian looks good from the footage i saw. The rest, wasnt expecting too much but was hoping for a few surprises. Ward not qualifying is a massive blow.

    By a Turk!
Nine in the quarters and all still winning yet none made it at the Worlds, i normally don't do conspiracy theories but.............
Anyway that the end of the road for DOJ and as stated he got a tough draw, that fella is good and improving. Wouldn't rule out Nolan yet.

Nolan will be facing Gheorghe Ionut of romania in the semis. Seems he got a walkover in his quarters. Anyone seen him before? He fought in the last olympics and has a win over John Joe Joyce.

It would be very disappointing to have less (male) boxers at London than we had at Beijing, but it's looking like a strong possibility now. Joe Ward seems to generate a lot of media attention so it would have been great to see him there.

Nolan and barnes just one win away from the olympics
Barnes seems to be in easier
Tommy Mc has to have it alot harder but you never know
if the two boys qualify thats 5 with ward being up in the air at the moment

anything under 5 is a major dissapointment i would say myself as the team/setup is supposed to be alot more improved form 08

I think Nolan will beat him. That win over Joyce was in the last Olympic qualifiers and it's about his best win. He lostto Belous recently and Nolan edged him in the Chemistry Cup so it's certainly doable.
