Bad scoring with the welterweight final. Maybe I needa watch it again but at first glance Nolan was throwing a lot but landing little. Mclaughlin was covering up very well and snapping out a good few clean right hands in the first round. 2nd round Nolan was landing some very nice combos and was particularly good with uppercuts and the straight left but I felt halfway into the round Mclaughlin started to regain his composure. 3rd round obviously belonged to Willie. Really feel for Willie. Nolan was completely out of it and you can see from his facial expressions with Willie's corner that even he's 100% satisfied with the win.
What a night, theres nothing like finals night at the stadium:deal Sad to see Egan go, but Ward is the sort of talent that normally comes out of Russia or somewhere else like that. We are lucky to have him.

Ward could be an absolute superstar if he keeps the head down. The lad really has the ability to achieve whatever he wants in the game. Fair play to Egan as well, what a great servant he has been and it was nice the see him getting the standing ovation. Must pick up his book soon. Sounds like a good read from what I've heard.
Ward is nowhere even close to being the finished article, incredibly raw. Its frightening really. He can look a little wild and his technique needs a little refinement when he is throwing punches on the front foot, but he has got all the tools. Last night he came forward, think he is very confident that he has Kenny's number. In the WSB, he has been counter punching alot more. At 19, he really has the world at his feet, he has beaten pretty much everyone above him in the rankings. Lets just hope he keeps the head down and works at it, i've heard whispers that he is not the best trainer in the world, you often get talented lads like that who think natural born talent is enough but its not.
he should have charged harrison instead of trying to box him,thought he was very poor in that fight yet he was great in the other. Strange :huh
He was coming straight in onto Harrison's left everytime and never tried to change it up. Plus he tried to out-box him. If he couldn't give him angles then he should of got his hands up and walk through him.
I really rate Joe Wards potential as world class. That said, he has a lot to work on. I hope people don't get carried away with the guy. He hits hard but he could hit even harder if he worked on technique. He also needs to work his defense. He is only 19 and the world is his oyster. As someone said already though, he is not the finished article.
