I meant underdog as in with the bookies. Shur was your man not the number 1 seed? Shur we all knew paddy could beat him. The only reason Alizade probably won the last euros is cos barnes was injured. I thought barnes would win, but didn't think he'd destroy him that much. Looked once or twice in the first round like he would stop him.

How do ya fancy JJN's chances in the worlds? That fella who beat conlan in the olympics is gone up a weight right? (Ramirez). Like darren o neill says, Nevin can beat anyone if he performs!

My bad....just realised the Russian was number 1 seed. The Azeri was number 3 after Barnes. I got confused cos I remember at one stage last year someone on here said Alizade was ranked number 1 in the world. Didn't realise he had gone down so much since then.

about 3/4 years ago in the stadium in a low=key round-robin event if I recall correctly and just by a few points. Campbell also beat Selby a couple of times but he is much improved.

Jesus i didnt know Ramirez has gone up in weight but at 56kg JJN wins against him anyway he wants, too much movement and physically too big ! I think JJ is going going to move up to 60 kg fulltime now anyways

Ya there was a video on here a few months ago, from the cuban championships. Rameirez beat Alvarez (who JJN beat in London) at 56kg by about 7 or 8 points. Shur Rameirez won his olympic youth medal in 2010 at bantam, so it makes sense that he was gonna go back up sooner or later. Good news for Conlan and Selby ahead of the worlds :D

You reckon JJ is going up to 60kg? Who do you fancy to be the future for Ireland at 56kg? Kurt Walker? Or will that clonmel fella be making a comeback

Tyrone McCullagh would be the number 2 at 56kg or Deco maybe, but Conlons so big that if JJN moves up after the worlds i think Conlon may go 56kg for the future it seems the right thing to do ! Kurt Walker is class act , still very young but looks the part but transition from junior to senior boxing is a big thing so only time will tell ! That Clonmel fella would have to chop off his leg to make 56kg hahahaha

If Nevin's diet and training is right I see no need for him to go up to 60Kg. He's not exactly out of shape at 56kg, but he's not ripped and does have a little bit of fat around the mid section (by elite sports person standards).

So for me 56kg is where he'd be most effective and where he should stay....all things done correctly that is.

I dunno-looks weight drained to me, fights third round as if running out of stamina, even though he usually has it sewn up by then. In the WSB at 61 KG he fights a fast pace for 5 rounds, he is tall, 5-8 for a bantam who is s not a beanpole. He was 54 at 18 so he was lucky with the 56 catagory when it came in, gave him a few years but 57 would prob suit now.
