Yeah another bad decision from Kenny, to go along with not cashing in on his silver medalatsch

 

In all fairness at the time Lenny not turning pro was the right option , his style wast suited for the pros and he probebly taught Iv another 6-7 years as a top class amateur and getting a top level grant , sponsorship and all my expenses paid for.

I don't think he envisaged that two years later he would be getting beaten up by a 17 year old and wasn't even the number 1 in Ireland anymore

Great to see more irish lads turning pro.. instead of dumbos on the internet thinking ireland are poor at boxing when we are not its the vast majority of our best boxers stay amateur.

Carl Frampton, Jason Quigley, John Joe Nevin, Conrad Cummings, Ryan Burnett, Tommy Mccarthy, Declan Geraghty, Jamie Conlan, Stephen Ormond.
& I think Michael Conlan might go pro after the commonwealths

the future is bright for the irish in the pros

 

I doubt he got offered that much, and by the time you take out travel, trainers expense medical costs and taxes I doubt there would be a huge amount of difference to what he would have made in 7 years as an amateur

 

I would be interested to hear peoples views on the upcoming Macklin-Geale fight....

If Barker can beat Geale then I cant see how Macklin cant. i know styles makes fights but Barker was seriously bad, and Macklin at his best can be world class:deal

 

I think Macklin Geale is a 50/50. I really think anything can happen here. I think some people underestimate Geale so I would maybe have him slight favourite.

 

One thing I will say about the How good is Macklin/Lee debate on this thread in particular is, it reminds me very much of football. Does anyone remember Brian Kerr - seemed like a 50 - 50 split among the supporters at the time he was fired by the FAI. Was it fair? its a matter of opinion isnt it!

Or was the France Saga Henry's fault or was it bad defending by Ireland? etc etc
