Coyle, Donnelly, Barnes and Conlan all won today. So 8 out of 9 of the men's team are now 1 fight away from medalling. Impressive returns

Eddie Hearn claimed in Boxing News that the tickets for the Macklin fight at The Stadium were sold out within a couple of hours of going on sale. Surprising :think but good:yep

3 out of 4 aint bad considering most of our fancied fighters are on tomorrow. Would expect Conlan, Coyle, Barnes and Donnelly to win tomorrow. they've all been impressive so far!

That Aussie lad Maloney who beat Dalton looked a really good fighter. He fights young scottish lad McFadden who beat Edwards and Selby next. That should be a cracking fight.

Well, if an Irish guy is going to be beaten, at least its to someone called Moloney!

Conlan won handily to guarantee a bronze

Also, slipped under the radar but the EU Amateur Championships are being revived. They start in Sofia, Bulgaria on the 8th of August. Dunno what sort of a team Ireland will be sending considering the involvement of some of the lads in the Commonwealth Games. Anyway, a welcome return for the tournament in which Ireland have always performed well in (remember 2009 when 9 medals were won)
