Think I already said "spike"...wish more people would front up with an opinion. Fitz might out-work him, after all spike isn't the quickest, but Im going with Spike by UD. :bbb
Originally went towards Spike by stoppage but have now decided on Fitzgerald down the distance. The Fitz who fought Andy Lee is capable of winning this fight and he's been training well and is fit.
I'm torn between Spike by stoppage or Fitz on points. I'd prefer the first, but I'm starting to edge towards believing it'll be the second.
Lee wasn't in that fight mentally and maybe expected an easy night from someone " not in his class" I believe he said before the fight. Spike has the power and is tough but Fitz has tons of heart and grit and keeps coming, as much as I don't like Fitz he has had tougher fights. Both fighters will leave everything in the ring I predict Fitz nipping it by a couple of rounds.
I don't see Fitz being stopped as he seems well able to take some big hits. However, I still see Spike winning. I'm thinking an all out war like that of O'Kane-Fitz. Spike to win on a close points decision.
Correct, Mossy. But Lee had knowledge of Fitzgerald which did not tally with the performance we saw in the ring. Those who know Fitzgerald know he gave up Christmas in preparation and I haven't seen him box with such intensity before or since. Spike won't overlook him like Lee did, but Fitzgerald, I expect, will bring another overwhelming performance. Lee had enough ability to nick the win, but it'll be interesting to see if a rusty Spike does.
A rusty spike can be a dangerous thing..........Seriously I like him on a close points thing. Nevin should have an easy night and I hope Luke looks good.
Spike Fitz will prob be the most anticipated fight on the night, Spike is a better boxer IMO and hits harder but fitz has great heart and is wild as **** esp with his head and elbows ,I predict a scrappy enough affair with spike landing the more eye catching shots to get the nod and fitz to complain like hell about getting robbed, Timms Sweeny is a tougher call,Both have looked poor in recent showing when they stepped up and there wasnt a lot between them the last time,Sweeney seems to have prepared well in the furey camp for this one so that could be the deciding factor,Sweeny says he wll stop timms early thats just talking crap but i could see him winning on points,
Second episode of 4Thumps is here for you aural requirements. Interviews today with Anthony Fitzgerald, Seamus Macklin, Patrick Hyland and John Joe Nevin. https://soundcloud.com/4thumpsirishboxing
Can't wait for the 15th some cracking 50/50 fights, looking forward to seeing Pajo back and Spike v Fitz has war written all over it. Also think ***an might give this "new ricky hatton" something to think about. Oisin is always training and is in tip top shape even though he is the big 40. Weigh-in is on the 14th, is it in the 3arena and can public attend?
