The Irish public have no interest in boxing in general. They hoped on the bandwagon and enjoyed their couple of fights before falling back off it. Add to that the fact that tickets are very, very expensive and you have part of the problem. A lot of the joe soap punters that went to the Dunne fights didn't care who was on the undercard so were in essence paying €100 and up to see 1 fight.

Anyway, I heard some fantastic news today about Irish boxing for 2009 but I have been sworn to secrecy! I'm fit to burst I swear! It's huge!!!! However, the final touches have not been put on the deal so I have promised to keep my trap shut.

I'm sure Cormac has heard too and will break the story on his site when it is finalised!

I have to say i enjoyed the documentary. I liked the way after dunne lost it showed how forgotten he was with peters bringing over the next big things.
Btw did anyone else notice the way peters was swearing, now i dont mind swearin in fact im told i should cut it out but he was swearing at moments where swearing didnt enhance his point ie we will go with the ****ing tribal music or we will have some ****ing lad on the top of the stairs. The mother thought it was shocking.
That time of the euro fight seems along time ago now. hopefully it wont be too long before we have a title fight in the new 02.

No call for that Bam Bam share the wealth is what i say.Whisper it we'll say nothing ,you can trust us we're very discreet.....
Anyway before you reinvent the wheel i would like some predictions from you guys for the year ahead.I say we will have 2 boxers in world title fights and 3 in at continental title fights(europe or ameican).Belfast will hold 5 big shows and once again become
the home of pro boxing in Ireland .
    Happy new years to all.....:thumbsup

If its Bernard BamBam, then it would be a just reward.I have always liked Dunne, and learned to like him an awful lot more after watching that docu last night. I would say hes not our best fighter, but hes probably our most likable,
and he is the reason this wave of interest in Irish boxing started. Dunne, Peters and RTE is where it all began.:deal

i think rogie can win the euro title, along with lindsay for the british title. mccloskey and magee can win euro titles also. theres talk here about dunne and world titles.good luck to him but unlikely he wins a world crown. lee and duddy can secure elimanators for world crowns, and thats about it,but plenty.

Just watched a few DVD's of Dunne's early fights. Now I know he was fighting the usual dummies at the start of his career but he seemed to have considerably much more power at Super Feather/ Feather. I wonder why the decided to campaign him at SBW when he has always struggled with the weight
