I suppose an Irish middleweight champion defending his title in NYC around st Patricks day would be worth a hell of a lot to Andy,
With the summer homecoming against BJS still on the cards he couldn't be blamed for following the dollar on this one, pity though,

Don't know s**t but I hope so, or maybe Germany would be great. He competed well with the top Euro super Heavy's while just growing into the weight. More dash, punch developed and his really fast hands and good boxing skills, he could go a long way. Takes a shot well too, i think.

It didn't help that his only danger was from his own gym!

More money to be made for an Irish guy in America.

You have a ready made support base in places like NY and Boston

Isn't it a massive U-turn in amateur boxing in that's several years ago there wasn't a snow***** chance in hell of having most of our top ams turn pro?

Now in the space of a year, we've had, Cummings, Quigley, McCarthy, Nevin, Burnett, Sheehan, Geraghty and the like turn pro and many other good amateurs who weren't quite as successful as those guys, like Keeler, Sutcliffe and Turner. Major turn around.

It seems when a few made the decision the flood gates opened. And the fact that quite a few weren't happy with how the IABA treated them must have also been a determining factor.

Ya iaba are messing up IMO but this is very positive, the Irish scene could be huge in a few years and with the high performance unit in place there will be a conveyer belt of talent coming through, Ireland's never had such a great opportunity

....a bit like Andy Lee, eh Fra? :p

Speaking of fellas that have gone away..that ace poster The General seems to have disappeared without a trace. You'd think he would be all over Andy Lees upcoming title defence, but not a word since the new year???

So is Lee v Nielsen going ahead or what?

I'm not seeing much confirmation about a date, a venue, or word from the Nielsen side.

Pretty sure, hes back under a new name.

Maybe he was banned under his old one? The General was his 3rd-4th alt as it was.

    y

I didn't know that he had previous incarnations?
Wonder what specifically he got banned for? He never struck me as needing total banning, but then maybe I'm more tolerant than most...
