Irish Boxing

Hello this is a bit of a stab in the dark but my dad Patrick Hendron was an 18yr Irish amatuer boxer in 1966 when he fought on tv. The series was called RINGSIDE and was broadcast in Ireland on telefis eireann , I am trying to find out any information on this and would love to obtain any ringside photos or footage of this. If anyone out there has any ideas or leads I would be eternally greatfull, and sorry to go on this site but i'm trying everthing i cam many thanks gray

Maybe you could check local papers they are usually available in Libraries i think. Are you based in Ireland?

If this promotion is a success in Craigavon, then Peters could run haughians Celtic title bid there also. Its a shame fighters from the republic cant compete for this celtic title. Surely the BBBof C and the Irish boxing board can sort something out here.:huh

 

I contacted Simon Block when he was head of the BBBC last year about that , but they dont seem too keen to make adjustments to the rulebook to allow it. A shame as it would be great in bringing on boxers from the Republic and also for raising their profiles. I'd imagine this card will sell out. Haughian is a popular lad. It may be that Lurgan is too small for him, and Belfast is only 20 minutes away. I'd imagine his next outing would be chief support on a Dunne or McCloskey card.

Maybe more pressure can be put on the British board. After all when you consider the money Setanta [an Irish company] is pumping into British boxing, you would think they would at least look at it again. :deal
