Glad Billy is appreciated by his current employers. Just a shame we knackery Irish couldn't manage it. Depressing innit?.

understand everyone's anger at MGM but they where genuinely passionate and committed to Irish Boxing they gave every other pro gyms etc slots on there shows to build relationship and build irish boxing. 5 Celtic warrior fighters where set to fight on the two shows last weekend. Fighters like myself who suffer from inactivity where kindly handed slot after my fight fell through. I know after events at weigh-in it's easy to say crazy to say why people involve themselves but when there bringing 5 shows a year and TV to dublin and no one else is running shows its hard to sit at home when could be kept busy and build a profile in Dublin.

Fighters with dreams to chase and family's to provide for etc will be left in limbo now, sad time for Irish boxing and dublin itself. Huge knock on effect Tony Davit has cancelled his show set to run in April. It's been that way for a 100 years professional boxing attracts gangsters to all the events whether Ireland, England or America just this case Irish boxing was big casualty when crossed over directly at a weigh-in.
Sickening to see that violence with children at the event and hopefully no more innocent people are caught up in feud.

    :deal

Far too many on here were too quick to condemn MGM without thinking of the implications for fellas like you.

Also the violence had nothing to do with boxing or boxers. The shooters just took advantage of the fact that certain people who would normally be hard to reach would be conveniently gathered in one place.

I hope you get the breaks you deserve now for the rest of 2016. You are due some good luck.

    :thumbsup

Hopefully MGM will be a bit like the Irish Banks - "Too big to fail"!!!
They have Murray, BJS, Matthews - big world class gym facilities etc etc. so they are unlikely to disappear overnight.
So hopefully the Irish lads on their books will continue to get work on English bills even if the lovely wonderful BUI bans them here.

They have a second world champion in Liam Smith also, I wouldnt blame BUI for taking away licence two shooting incidents close together so no choice. Mel is a good guy and the shows in Ireland by MGM is keeping the BUI ireland busy so its hurting himself taking away licence but one he had to take.

I always forget Liam Smith.:patsch
Maybe Mel is a good guy - but you may be sure he has a full belly and a big house, Luke. Its the fighters that need the work and the paycheque. It is very decent of you to take such a calm view of a move that has done you out of work at a critical time.

(Mel prob came under savage pressure from de Gords too.)

The fighters are not targets in this feud and you may be sure the shady characters who are wont be showing up to weigh-ins and fights for a while to come.

So I do think it is a bit of a drastic knee-jerk over-reaction to hurt boxers livelihoods in this way.

Ridiculous statements,Mel Christle is head of the BUI and must do what is right to protect not only that organisation but all the boxers, coaches and officials under that heading,
There was no other recourse but to suspend the promoter awaiting investigations and untill he is assured that this promotional company is not being ran or funded heavily by characters that may attract this type of incident again,
