Rte showing the senior finals only showibg 4 mens fights, 3 womens, im all for women boxing but that is a bit of a joke. The standard is fairly poor and the talent pool is small. Bit of a joke to be honest.

Jaysus Harrington and Briadhurst will be one of the best fights of the night but agree two would do and maybe the men's 60k bates vs Cleary

I take it back the womens fights are actually filled with talent just seen who was fighting there. Just annoyed there not showing kelly - ferguson and hynes - kennedy.

One more go against who though Fra? GGG? Canelo? BJS? Charlo? What was he going to different next time at his age? Any of the top guys beat him handily. Andy realises this and did the right thing IMO. Very similar to Martin Murray in that both are nearly-men, just not quite good enough at top level.

How can you regard Lee as a nearly man? He won a legitimate world title.

Youre being proven right - Turner is struggling badly....as you would expect a guy in his condition to struggle in a boxing match. Why cant he lose the fat for a start? He looks like a "before" photo from a weight watchers ad!! There are plenty of hills around bray. Why can't he use em to do some running....

The only way Lardy fatso "tubby turner" was gonna be a danger to the Croat was if he belly-flopped him off the top rope, WWE style....

Another thing he needs to lose is those hideous tacky tats....yeuch!

    :) :)

If you’re finished being unnecessarily harsh on another Irish boxer, would you mind explaining why you’d call Andy Lee a “nearly man”?

I thought I was being quite funny actually - particularly the bit about him looking like the "before" photo from a weight-watchers ad....:) :) I was having a whale of a time. Speaking of whales ...He looks like a prop from a Greenpeace "Save-the-whale" convention! In shape he'd be at most, - a small cruiser. Then theres those tats - wow..."Tiocfaidh ar la" ..lol....More of a case of "Our burgers & chips will come" I'd say....gimme a break....:)

    Still a bit harsh IMO.

Anyway, how about my question regarding Lee!? (Third time lucky)

I hate repeating myself but just to keep you happy bk99..... And please don't bring up the korobov "title winning" fight ..or whatever..it doesn't count ....Korobov is/was useless. Completely useless. Top guy Andy Lee ...brave tough classy guy.....just not a very top world level boxer, no shame in that. Almost no one is.

I'd have more respect for Sean turner than Korobov...at least tubby turner is tough and can take a punch. If I was Pete taylor I'd tell turner .." If you're serious about me training you ...go away lose two stone and while you're at it lose the stupid tats too....then maybe we can talk"!

Ridiculous to expect someone not to bring up the Korobov fight. If your opinion is that Korobov was useless then that's fair enough, but people are more than warranted in mentioning that win (along with his draw with Quillin and close loss to BJS) when regarding Lee as more than a nearly man. It was for a legitimate world title in a major division ffs!

I'm not sure what you classify as "very top world level". I'm guessing GGG and Canelo. I'd agree that Lee wasn't quite at their level but certainly no shame in that as they are near the top of most P4P lists.

Still, I think it's very silly to call him a "nearly man".

I assume you're glad to engage in this discussion seeing as you regularly criticize people for posting less regularly on this thread.

I can tell that you find it difficult not to be condescending in your tone, but ironically I think that might be what dissuades a lot of former posters from engaging with you! A pity really as I think you really do love the sport and you're not intending to be malicious!
