Yeah. When you reel off names like Valdez and Luke Campbell etc and see where they are now, it just reminds us of just how badly Nevin blew it. What a waste, although the other day I was talking to someone from his hometown and they say he's supposed to have straightened out.....
Nevin's performance in the semis of the Olympics against that Cuban - that was the performance of the tournament for me. I thought he was gonna be a star in the pros..
Best performance iv seen from an Irish boxer at a major tournament but iv said it before elite boxing is like secondary school pro is like college, The high performance team looks after them, rings them if they are not in the gym, takes care of their diet requirements etc puts them up and feeds them, Pro fighters have to want to go to the gym themselves, look after their diet etc if they are not putting it in the pro manager/trainer will not be chasing them, so some fighters that have come through the hp units find it hard to drive themselves, i think thats what happened Nevin

http://www.irish-boxing.com/top-crumlin-amateur-turns-pro/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss how good is this guy.... cant say ive heard of him
Yes, we've been over this ground before, puca. The structure of the modern pro game, with numerically far fewer managers, and those few having huge stables of boxers, plus all the power concentrated in the hands of the few remaining big guys is actively adverse to a "nurturing" environment. This has cost us dear, with disastrous outcomes for two of our greatest ever amateur talents, Nevin and Sutherland. Certainly, there are no guarantees of course, but when I look at how far their amateur peers went, I can't help but think what might have been.....very sad really.
Luke keeler looked very relaxed at the weigh in. Cummings looked physically bigger though, but not by much.
Donaire doesn't look like a guy who is only here for the payday. Frampton will need to be careful....very careful....particularly in the first 5 or so rounds when nonito is still fresh.....
Well done Luke! Boxed brilliantly, even when he couldn't see he was lighting him up. Switch to full time looks to have paid dividends. Looking forward to watching more of this Luke in big fights in the future!
What a performance by Keeler! But those cuts! Probably in hindsight, cooler more logical heads a should have prevailed and team Keeler should have got the ref to agree the cuts were caused by accidental? ? Butts and pulled him out after 5. Horrific cuts.
Great performance from Luke. Serious step up going full time. Well done . Onwards and upwards mate ! The only result that let me down in my acca haha cost me 200 euro after your last show didnt think you had that in you. I was happy to lose a tenner watching that . Really was top class stuff.
